The
dining room at the Bearfoot Bistro is a whimsical, energetic, and
intimate place. High back leather chairs frame tables adorned with hand
painted Bopla plates and Riedel Crystal Stemware. A spiral staircase
drops from the centre of the room into the wine cellar filled with one
of the most impressive collection of champagne and wine in North
America.
The
Champagne Bar stands as one of the most stylish places in Whistler. A
custom made pewter bar features a rail of ice that cradles, cools, and
illuminates your champagne flute from below. A massive river rock
fireplace balances the frenzy of the bar while a self-enclosed cigar and
brandy room awaits your post-dining conversation. The atmosphere here is
electric, exciting and sure to impress.

The Bearfoot is our favourite restaurant in Whistler. They have a
brand new wine bar and if you are into champagne and fine wine you will
love this place, that's for sure! An evening at the Bearfoot is a full
on 3 hour dining experience, so is not for everyone. However, if you
have a palette for fine food, wines and cheeses and you like to splurge
while on holiday then you won't want to miss this one. You haven't done
Whistler until you've sabered a bottle of champagne at the Bearfoot!
Our first place we went to was Barefoot Bistro. We would recommend it
highly. My wife booked our dinner several months in advance as it had
terrific reviews. We were not disappointed. It’s a very authentic place
with a chef who’s 29 years old (Melisa Craig) and was named the #1 chef
in Canada for 2008. The menu was truly unique. My wife and I both had a
crab appetizer that had the crab prepared in three separate ways; crab
roll, fried, and liquid. I had the game (caribou, onyx, and bear while
my daughter had lobster ravioli and Karen had the beef tenderloin. For
desert, I had the chocolate soufflé and my wife had a deconstructive
banana split and my daughter had the white chocolate. My wife had a
local BC wine and I had the sommelier pair three separate wines with
each course. It was a terrific dining experience and truly fun and
unique. |
