Hotel Review of the Fairmont Hotel Chateau Whistler

I booked a night here as a surprise getaway for my husband's birthday
and also as our last weekend getaway before the arrival of our twins. At
8 months pregnant, I wanted us to spend a relaxing weekend together in a
hotel that had good amenities and service. I signed up for the
President's Club and this was helpful when we checked in. As it was the
labour day weekend, the hotel was quite busy and we were able to check
in via the shorter President's Club line instead of the regular check in
line.
Valet parking was expensive ($30) but we knew we weren't really going to
be using the car, so we thought it was a good idea to have it safely
parked.
We had a great afternoon relaxing by the pool. It was busy, but we found
a spot and ordering drinks and food there is nice. I had booked us in
for a couple's massage at the Vida spa and the Mother-to-Be Massage was
heavenly! What a treat! The massage therapist was experienced and knew
perfect techniques for aching, swollen feet and legs and back pressure.
When we got back to our room, there was some chocolate dipped
strawberries with a note congratulating us on the upcoming birth of our
twins and wishing my husband a happy birthday. What a special touch and
we will keep the card as a keepsake of our special weekend.
The breakfast at the Wildflower was so good- so many choices and I was
able to get my decaf latte to go. We had tickets for the Peak2Peak chair
included in our package and this made the room rate very reasonable.
Overall, I think it was the perfect choice for us. In the past, we have
done lots of activities at Whistler, but this trip we wanted to relax
and the combination of the pool area, spa services and restaurant/room
service choices made for an ideal, less active trip for us. I would
recommend any mama-to-be to book a night here with the hubby and just
have a bit of special time together before you become parents.

Spacious reception at the Fairmont chateau Visited Whistler from
Vancouver via the "Rocky Mountaineer" train up the coast.
Hotel is grand in every respect, huge reception area and great
facilities.
We had adjoining suites which were so comfortable, great beds!
Pool and spa areas were excellent and the cocktails by the pool just
perfect on a hot sunny day.
We had dinner in the hotel on the saturday night which was very good-
prime rib the best I've ever had but the wine prices are just
ridiculously high- local BC wines starting at $14 nearly £10 a glass?
Other than that we found everything to our liking.
Hot tip- book for the Sunday brunch- at $20 it is very good value and
top quality as you'd expect from the Fairmont brand.

Our family of four had a wonderful August long weekend stay at the
Chateau Whistler. We arrived on Friday evening and were appointed a
gorgeous room on the 7th floor overlooking the pool area and the
mountains. After quickly unpacking, we were in the pool. The larger of
the two pools was full of happy families and our kids quickly made
friends with all the other children so we sat and relaxed in one of the
five hot tubs or on a poolside lounger wrapped in the comfortably
oversized hotel robes. The lap pool (which has underwater speakers) was
much quieter, with the occasional serious swimmer getting real exercise.
Needing a snack, we ordered nachos to share as well as hotdogs for the
kids and drinks for all. I love being able to order food and drinks
without changing out of my swimsuit! The nachos were great, with lots of
toppings. A perfect poolside snack. Eventually, we were able to haul the
kids out of the pool and head back to our room.
The beds were so comfortable and we slept very well. We left the windows
open so we could enjoy the fresh mountain air. It was very quiet.
Despite being above the outdoor pool area and the outdoor Mallard Lounge
patio, the only "noise" was the sound of people talking quietly.
Our bathroom was very clean and quite large. I loved the big counter. We
didn't actually use the shower so I can't comment on water pressure.
Because we were in the pool everyday (several hours each evening), we
used the shower facilities in the pool area change room. I loved the
change rooms (now how often do you hear someone praise pool change
rooms?!). They were clean and roomy and each stall had a curtained off
change area preceding the actual shower area. There was shampoo,
conditioner and body wash in each stall, all with a lovely fragrance.
Within the change room, there was also a lovely Eucaliptus steam sauna.
The pool area, in addition to having food and beverage service, also had
complimentary water in three containers, each one prepared with slices
of either orange, lemon, lime, or cucumber.
The fitness area is located beside the pool area and is well equipped
and roomy, with huge windows overlooking the pool deck and mountain
vistas. My husband enjoyed being able to work out and then enjoy a swim
and sauna.
We stayed for a total of three nights and we were sorry to leave. This
is the best hotel in Whistler. It has an amazing pool area, the rooms
are spacious and clean, the beds are heavenly, and the staff are
friendly and professional. We are already planning our next stay.

This was such a wonderful hotel - long walk to the room though.
Excellent food, especially the vegetarian choices, highly recommended.
Rear garden beautiful and staff were very helpful and efficient.

We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler for two nights. Friendly
staff and easy check-in. Our room was on the 8th floor with a great view
of Blackcomb Mtn and ski lifts. Well furnished room, comfortable bed and
large bathroom; however, disappointed in the lack of cleanliness and
maintenance in the bathroom. The shower had mould around shower door and
loose showerhead. The location was great and a short tree lined walk to
Lower Whistler Village. It was nice to be in a quiet area away from the
main village. Ate at Portabello Deli @ the hotel for lunch and a
breakfast. They have great made to order deli sandwiches and more. The
breakfast had a limited selection but opens early to accommodate early
departures or the early bird. Dinner at Wildflower was good, recommend
the daily special with free dessert. The hotel grounds were beautiful.

Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff, perfect location - ski right to your
door. Unequalled in Whistler. Cannot wait to return!Hotel Review of the Fairmont Hotel Chateau Whistler

A beautiful hotel set right in front of the Blackcomb Mountain. This
place is set up very well for skiers. The magnificent foyer and slate
floors imply luxury and the concierge staff dressed in Nordic sweaters,
the fireplace, the dogs strolling through give it a very comfortable,
homey feel.
Staff for the most part are very friendly and helpful. I was told by the
front staff that they keep customer profiles of their clients.
The Portobello serves incredible pastries. The salads there are small
and overpriced. Upstairs the buffet breakfast serves delicious Pemberton
potatoes and made to order omelettes. The evening meal was very
disappointing. The salad nicoise was tiny...not much lettuce, a few
shreds of potato, I had trouble identifying them they were just a few
julienned strips and a small fillet of salmon. But the dining room is
lovely...with large windows overlooking the hill and treed property. |
