Hotel Review of the
Executive Inn At Whistler Village

The wonderful experience at the Executive was the cornerstone of our
magical weekend at Whistler. Jessica, the check-in specialist with whom
we had most of our dealings, was gracious, Super helpful, friendly,
accommodating and just a general joy to be around! You go, Jessica!!
Thank you for everything! The room was lovely, comfy and modern. The
restaurant was top notch and the Inn's location was excellent.

This hotel is right in the village, which was exactly what we wanted.
Cons: The lobby is tiny and there's no pool (which would have helped in
July!). Parking, this is the biggest problem. There are not enough
parking spots for the number of rooms, so we had to park in Lot 4. There
is no fitness centre or room service, but there is a lot of mountains
outside to get exercise, and there are restaurants a stone's throw from
the hotel, so not problem there.
Pros: Right in the mix of things, walk out the door and there is the
village stroll
The room was great, kitchenette, nice bathroom, fireplace, large balcony
which we sat out on and people watch and listened to music from the jazz
bar downstairs.
The room was clean and everyone was friendly.
There is a bit of noise from the loads of bachelor and bachelorette
parties, but hey! you're right in the heart of the village, and there is
more noise at my place in the city, so it didn't bother me.
There's a nice wall mounted flat screen above the wood burning
fireplace, but we didn't use either of those, so I can't comment on
them, but they looked nice.
We'll be back!

My first ever trip up to Whistler in the 28yrs I've lived in Vancouver,
so I was excited. I had heard from a friend who had stayed here about
the parking situation here so I was prepared. Parking is an issue here,
if you can leave your car parked do so because you WILL lose your spot!
They need to get more parking spaces (like one for maybe each of the
rooms you provide at your hotel would be a start).
The hotel itself was nice enough, well decorated and situated on the
Village Stroll. It was nice to walk out to the main shops and
restaurants. We also were maybe a 5min walk from the Whistler Golf
Course which was nice since we had a twiglight tee time.
If you stay in a regular room like us there's a nice sleeping area with
big tall ceilings, it is kind of small but nicely decorated, and has a
small fridge and coffee maker. There is a small closet, a blow dryer but
you will have to request an iron. The ironing board is lumpy with a
really thin cover so there's no point using it unless they upgrade it.
The bathroom was the most RIDICULOUS thing we have ever seen. You can
literally use the toilet and take a shower at the same time! There is a
lip to prevent water from flowing onto the hallway carpet but you will
probably need to build a towel wall to prevent that from happening
anyways because they didn't angle the floors to the drain, so you have a
pool by the end of your shower.
To top things off! On one of the hottest weekends of the year so far our
air conditioning was busted in our room so we did NOT enjoy our sleep
(or lack thereof). We mentioned it to the front desk the next morning
and her response was this:
"oh really, well we've had guests asking for fire logs lately" (implying
everyone else's air conditioning units were working)
How about apologizing and doing something to compensate our horrible
night stay, Executive Inn? But nothing! Poor service! I've stayed at
cheaper hotels and had better service than this place. My
recommendation, go stay at the Aava! We could've gotten a room there for
cheaper and probably less trouble and better service

My welcoming was so rude from the person checking me in that the other
girl felt bad then gave me a free parking pass to the lot next door.
Which upon my return was full after driving around in the lot looking
for our spot only to find out they had over booked.
-I understand it being offered on a first come first serve basis but
once the pass is issued they should be aware of what it going on.
- I was then instructed to come in and they would issue me 15 dollars to
go next door and purchase a pass for $20.00. The lease they could do is
give me the full 20 dollars.
- I then went next door and believe or not the same thing happened. Sold
me a pass went next door and proceed down to the same lot to once again
find no spot. I then again had to get out of my a car and get a refund.
At that point I was instructed to park in the free lot 4 located 10
minutes away.
- off we went and parked in lot 4 returned to our hotel only to be asked
the question if had parked in the only few free spots located near the
burm of the hlll new the road??? I was very upset so off we went again
to re-park the car.
-After over an hour of trying to park our car we returned to our room
which smelled like smoke and to top it off I would put the comfortor and
couch material a cross between sand paper and polyester.
-we were alone for a weekend away from the kids buy highly suggest never
to bring toddlers to the loft suite as they could fall over the ledge.
I have travelled in many hotels and have written positive reviews in the
past.

The room was very comfortable and clean. Kitchen was well equipped only
problem I had was reaching the top shelf (happens when you are short!)
Location was central within easy walking distance of all amenities. Some
noise due to late night revellers outside the hotel but were soon
silenced. Security was top rate. One draw back was locating the hotel
upon arrival as it is not easily visible from the main road.

We received very good customer service, from the time we booked the room
to the check out time. The only nugget for improvement could be that on
the second day the hotel had a new guy in the front desk (he said he had
only 2 weeks in Whistler so far), so he wasn't able to answer some
questions we had. But ok, that's not that bad.
We stayed in the loft suite and requested the sofa-bed. I slept in the
sofa-bed. Not very good, a little to squeeky and soft. But it's ok for
Whistler standards for this room price.
We actually used the coffee machine and cutlery because we had breakfast
in our room, things were in good shape.
The good thing of this hotel is that is in the middle of the village, so
everything is at walking distance. I guess the best bet in summer is to
rent some bikes to move from place to place. The parking seems to be
nuisance, but in this hotel you "only" pay $15/day, I supposed that in
other parking lots is more expensive.
I read that some people complained about the noise in the rooms facing
the main street (Village Stroll), so I asked for a room facing the other
side (Sundial Pl)and it was very quiet.
Overall I'd say this hotel is a good option. |
