Distinctly different from
the other Golf Whistler properties, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club
offers classic "mountain golf at its finest". Carved from the side of
Blackcomb Mountain, this Robert Trent Jones Jr. design features an elevation
change of over 400 feet and dramatic elevated views of the Whistler valley.

It was quite cold in the morning. Bring a rain jacket, lots of
balls and a camera. Two bear sightings. We were set up with 11 am
times with our package. Best weather of the day. Wonderful attentive
service. Ranked highly as a golf resort and justifiably.

Golf Course: Excellent golf course and we played it 6 times. The
front four holes are the toughest. What it lacked in length it made
up in breadth. It you're the kind of golfer who hates elevation
changes, it's not for you. The long holes play uphill, the par 3s
downhill. Some of the greens are blind off the tee, most of them
have a very narrow approach. It's one of those courses that is
actually carved out of the terrain rather than created by a
bulldozer. Many sloping fairways require the most precise shots that
you can manage. There are also some swirling winds over some of the
creeks (or that's my story) that will surprise you.

It's target golf. If it's wet (and it often was) the par 4s and
5s play longer without any roll. DH played off the tips and I played
off the ladies. The forward tees were still challenging in terms of
shot making, it wasn't just shorter playing from them. They only
complaint we had were that some of the greens were fuzzy and slow.
Apparently, early season melt and refreeze was not kind to them.
