Hotel Review of the Pinnacle Hotel Whistler
|
July 10, 2009
The rooms at the Pinnacle are a mini home. They have everything you could
possibly need - bed, sofa, full kitchen, flat screen tv, dvd player, bathroom
with jacuzzi etc. The hotel shows its age but is in ok condition. We had a
corner room with two balconies (small size). One of them had views of both the
Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Not much more you can ask for in terms of
location. The main village area is just a 5 minutes walk.
The hotel has late check-in (4pm) and early checkout (10am). Please have one or
the other. If you have late check in then you should allow late check out.
The parking fees of $15/day is excessive and uncalled for. The bathroom was a
little cramped and had enough room for only one person at a time.
Overall it was value for money in terms of amenities and location.
Hotel Review of the Pinnacle Hotel Whistler
June 12, 2009
If you want a quiet place with a full kitchen that is 5 minutes walk from the
main village then look here.
From first blush, the outside of this hotel looks like any other, until you get
to the front door which is a little less fancy with the unpowered double glass
doors with metal handles. The lobby is quaint with a small check in desk. Nice
polite staff.
Going up the one of two elevators to our deluxe 4th floor suite, a faint odor
was detected which was prevalent even in our room. I will grant that for a snow
resort that gets a lot of wet patrons over the years will tend to leave a musty
wet smell...don't hope for lemon fresh.
The room was a fair size with a high steepled ceiling. We only noticed that the
upper set of windows did not have black out curtains, nor any curtains at all.
If you have to, use the sofa cushions to cover the upper window.
The TV is oddly placed on top of the very high fireplace, so viewing is not
easily done from the sofa. The bed is better. As per other comments made, there
is no drawer space for clothes, only two closets. Not very convenient as most of
our stuff spent their time sprawled over chairs.
For Ipod owners, there is a convenient Ipod radio that you can hook your tunes
up to.
The kitchen is the right size and stocked with all that you would need to cook.
Warning, the range hood does not vent outside but instead back into the room so
don't try cooking anything that will smoke excessively as the smoke alarm 14
feet up on the ceiling will not be accessible. There is a nice small table for
eating.
There is a big jacuzzi in the room. Probably best in winter.
The bathroom is small with little counter space for your stuff.
Finally the temperature. In the warmer weather the room, being on the top floor
heats up. If you like sleeping with an air conditioner on, with both the cold
air issues and the noise issues, then this place is for you. If you can't sleep
like this then perhaps a different place with a more modern, and quieter air
conditioning system.
Overall, like i said, it was okay, but not great. It may have been our
particular room, but there are other hotels in Whistler that are a bit more up
to date that I think are more impressive. |
