Hotel Review of the Four Seasons Hotel Whistler
Nov 14, 2009
My husband and I spent several days here taking advantage of deep discounts
during the slow period in Whistler. We had a room with no balcony, which was
fine since the weather was very cool and mostly rainy. The room was spacious,
the bed was wonderfully comfortable, the gas fireplace worked very well, and the
bathroom was a dream. We took advantage of the discount rates at the spa as
well. Every evening there was a complimentary wine tasting (including a
wonderful array of cheese and fruit) in the restaurant. The Squamish/Lil Wat
cultural center is a 5 minute walk and is worth the visit. The swimming pool was
empty for cleaning while we were there. My only complaint with the hotel is the
$32 per day parking fee with no option to park on your own.

We have stayed in Whistler several times and decided to give the Four Seasons a
try. I've stayed at many Four Seasons Resorts and have always been happy. This
one was fine, but for the money, it really wasn't worth it. If you're skiing,
the location is not great. The Westin, Pan Pacific and Hilton are much better.
Rooms are nice, but not any better than the Westin or Pan Pacific, yet they were
priced much higher. The hotel staff were overly formal. I don't think we'll
choose to stay here again. .

Four Seasons Hotel Whistler is the best hotel in Whistler. We've stayed at
Fairmont before, but the Four Seasons surpasses it by all accounts. Its new, the
rooms are large and very comfortable. 5280 restuarant is amazing, especially the
healthy menu, also the spa is amazing....

Very clean, great service, nice-enough rooms, but for */night, I expect more
than nice. 5280 was staggeringly overpriced for what you got. Not the most
impressive 4 Seasons. There are better/cheaper choices in Whistler

Excellent trip. Four Seasons Hotel Whistler was beautiful, room was spacious and
clean. One thing: on the room description it said there would be a balcony, but
ours did not have one. Customer service was unparallel to any previous
experience. They worked hard at the Four Seasons Hotel Whistler for us to make
sure we were completely satisfied"

We have stayed at many hotels in Whistler including the Fairmont on several
occasions. While the Fairmont is very good, it does not compare to the Four
Seasons which is similarly priced if not cheaper once you factor in food. This
was our second stay and we will likely be back in the fall. The staff are
excellent. I am surprised by some reviews that describe the staff as
"pretentious". We are humble mountain bikers and don't exactly exude wealth. We
have always experienced nothing but first class service from all staff at the
hotel. The food is very reasonably priced and very tasty. We ate every meal at
the hotel on both our stays. Insider tip: if you want a spacious moderate (i.e.
cheapest room) go for one of the *18 rooms (i.e. 718). Also, valet parking for
your car and bicycles is included. I wouldn't hesitate staying here again, and
again.

We stay at the FS Whistler, often bringing along friends and always making it
part of our trek home to the US, usually from a great distance. We typically
bring our two little dogs, and their acceptance of them, help in arranging dog
sitters, etc. is one of the main reasons we keep going back.
The rooms are nice, but beginning to be outdated. For example, it is time to
upgrade to flat screens in the rooms.
Overall we would recommend the hotel if you can find a good deal, but paying
rack rate is hard to justify sometimes. If you don't care about price, then
fine. This is one of the best places anywhere to relax, ski, eat, etc. If you
still look to keep a good value/price ratio, then consider looking around for
something else.
As a final comment, I see other comments about the snooty service...I can
totally understand. We are a relatively young couple and sometimes I just want
to know why they can't treat me the same as if my father walked in there.

We stayed for 4 nights.
Usual check-in problems. On arrival our rooms were not ready despite e-mailing
our arrival time in advance (6pm - not exactly early). This was not ideal as we
had suffered a 24 hour journey and just wanted to crash.
We waited for an hour or so and they gave us free drinks and food which was nice
but they forgot to tell us when the rooms were ready. I suspect they had been
ready for some time.
The rooms were lovely - large, clean, nice balcony and good aircon (needed for
the heatwave). The pool area was great and the staff could not do enough for
you. The spa was great too. The hotel is a bit out of the way but it was a
pleasant walk into the village and much nicer to stay in than Creekside.
Our only gripe was that the breakfast was so so expensive.

We stayed at the Four Seasons Whistler out of season (!) and got a great deal on
the price. Check in was easy, the lobby is huge and very warm.
We had a superior room which is only one notch up from the most basic rooms. It
was nevertheless a great room - very clean, quite big, huge comfortable bed,
massive walk in wardrobe and a bathroom to die for with L' Occitane toiletries
topped up everyday. There was small balcony with a view to the mountains.
The Four Seasons Whistler staff were all really professional, helpful and
friendly: top service without being overwhelming.
I also used the spa, booked one their packages and I cannot recommend it highly
enough.
We ate in the Four Seasons Whistler restaurant once and in the bar area another
time - both very good experiences with nice local food. Cocktails are
recommended.
If you want to go to Whistler in the summer when prices are cheaper but there
still is plenty to do, do check out the Four Seasons Whistler, you may find you
can afford 5 stars - and it will be worth every single penny (or dollar,
actually!). |
