The service at this hotel was unbelievably bad. It all started with the check
in. Power was out when we arrived. It was apparently a scheduled outage, but
they did nothing to assist confused guests. There was a note to enter the side
door. I did and found the lobby which was totally dark. I said "hello, anybody
here" several times with increasing volume, but no response. I made my way up
the hallway until I found a door with somebody sitting there (general manager).
He said the power was out and found the front office manager, who checked me
using a flashlight. The front office manager told me to park my car below and
use the stairs. I asked about my luggage and skis. He told me to carry them up
the stairs from the carpark. I struggled to figure out where to park because it
was dark and no signs. Construction workers helped us find a starway, which was
actually roped off stating UNDER CONSTRUCTION. This led to the lobby. The stairs
to the rooms were at the far end of the hotel, and our room was directly above
the near end, so we had to completely traverse the full distance of the hotel
twice with our luggage. The front office manager and general manager both knew
this, yet they did not suggest that we unload at the lobby (which would have
been half the distance) nor offer to help with our luggage and skis. Only after
we got upset did they offer any help at all. Then they sent the maintenance man
to help. This was not enough to help carry our belongings, when we passed the
lobby with our stuff, the front office manager and general manager were just
standing there. My wife had to say "can you please help?".
If you look at the reviews on this site, there is a consistent theme: The
location is good (which it is) but the service is bad. And it is very bad. There
are some staff that were very friendly. However given their management, how can
anyone expect consistent good service. It is all too bad, because location is
expensive, and service is cheap. They could have a good thing going with a
change of management.

I stayed at this property for 5 days recently. The price was very reasonable,
and the location very central and convenient. The rooms are basic, and are not
exactly "new" but they were good enough for my purposes. I found them to be
clean and really that is all I was looking for. If you are looking for anything
at all beyond a place to leave your things and catch some sleep, this may not be
the best choice for you.

After checking out the other hotels in the area we chose the BW. The rooms are a
little on the small side and have been well used, but compared to the prices
being charged at the nearby hotels it represents good value for money. We ate in
the hotel restaurant, the Bearfoot Bistro. That was a strange experience. The
food could not have been bettered in both quality, presentation and value for
money, but almost as much time was used up by various members of the waiting
staff checking that all was well as we spent actually eating it. Be warned if
you like a bottle of wine. The wine list runs to over a hundred pages. It would
be cheaper to spend a month in the hotel than buy one bottle of some of the
wines I found. What I did not find was a reasonably priced wine. Some of the
names I recognised from other restaurants, but not the prices - they were at
least double. There may have been something I was prepared to buy, but life is
too short.Hotel Review of the Best

Close to the facilities I needed to be at. I was satisfied with my hotel and
stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The location was excellent.
Although parking was extra I would recommend this hotel to anyone, family,
conference or solo traveler.

The front staff and manager were incredibly helpful. Initially our room was
unavailable only because the previous guests destroyed the room. The situation
was rectified for us. This hotel is a decent place to stay for the price. It is
very close to whistler gondola, and very close to the entire whistler stroll.
The Barefoot Bistro in the Hotel is amazing expensive, but very good. The
regular rooms are average hotel rooms, nothing out of the ordinary, but the
suites are very nice. The front desk staff is quite accommodating. You do have
to pay 15.00 per night for parking.

Location was very close to everything. The staff was very nice and the food was
good. The parking rate was high and the breakfast was a little high. Very
convenient to the slopes and village. Everything was within walking distance
that could need. And the staff was very nice and helpful. I would recommend this
for anyone that wants a good rate with a great location.

My experience is the mirror image of another review in June of 2008 from
Huntington Beach, CA. We booked for two days by phone. No special policies were
mentioned by the hotel agent--nor were any policies cited in the advertising
write up about the property. Our daughter got sick in Seattle. We had to call to
delay our trip, cutting our Whistler stay to only one day. Our cancellation call
was about 6-8 hours before our stay. Literally traveling the world as we do, we
have come to expect that cancellations can be made a few hours beforehand a
reservation--especially if they are made by credit card.
Upon calling to cancel, the hotel clerk stated that they had a 48-hour
cancellation rule and we would have to pay for the canceled night. We went ahead
and traveled to Whistler and spoke the manager on duty, assuming we could
explain why were had to cancel. It made little difference; she was adamant about
their policy and finally allowed to have us pay for half the room price.
So, as far as we were concerned, we ended up paying 150% rate for a room. My
wife now simple hates the memory of Whistler, Canada even though I am sure it is
a delightful place.

The room is rather small, but very clean. Front desk staff was polite and
helpful. Since our room faced the back of the hotel, we did not hear a lot of
noise from the street. But during the night, there were plenty of hotel guests
talking loudly in the hallway. For travellers who want to go to bed early and
enjoy a restful night, this may not be the best choice in accommodation.
