Hotel Review of the Adara Hotel Whistler

We were very satisfied with the service from the front desk and the
attention to details when we had inquiries. Went above and beyond our
requirements. Meridith, at the front desk, was very accommodating and so
very pleasant in nature. We highly recommend this hotel for it's
location and for "a great deal". We certainly look forward to a return
trip to Whistler and will stay at the Adara Hotel again.

We stayed for 3 nights at Adara hotel and it was fantastic. The pool and
hot tub were very clean, as were the rooms. The location is great, right
in the centre of Whistler Village. The front desk was very
accommodating, overall it was a great experience and we will definitely
be staying there again!!

This is a boutique hotel and it looks like one. First impression was
that the fireplace in the lobby was welcoming. We had no problem with
check-in. When we came out of the lift on our floor, I thought the
corridor looked like a cheap apartment, It's very dark as well and worn
off a bit.
We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite - room 321, think it was the furthest
from the main street. Although it was the furthest, we could hear the
noise at night from the pub/nightclub. We slept a bit late, so it did
not bother us that much and I noticed it was quiet from about 1am/2am.
As to the hotel room: -
Furniture/Fixtures
+ Stylish and good-looking
- looked cheaply-made and the paint has peeled off a bit on the door and
on the wall
- trouble locking the room door and found that there was no metal on the
door frame, so it did not lock well.
Facilities + good, as all we expected for a 4-star hotel
+ fireplace in the living room, thermostat control heating in the
bedroom
- The "rain shower" was just like rain - it was not powerful at all.
We find the lighting in the living room was poor. There was only one
floor lamp on one side of the living room and it was dim light too. We
tried to use the bedroom light to let some lights through to the living
room, but it was still too dark.
Cleanliness - average - two of the bath towels had small grey dirt on
them. The room throughout looked clean, but not sure if it was indeed
clean.
Bedroom + good size, the bed is comfy and clean
Overall - a mediocre 4-star hotel, I have stayed in a good 3-star hotel
before and I'd rather choose a good 3-star than this hotel because of
the cheap material of the furniture and bad maintenance of the hotel
generally. This hotel only LOOKED good and stylish.
If you think of the cost CAD $79 a night was not a bad price, but for a
room like that, I have to mark it down and so generally an average
score.

We booked a room at this hotel through Alaska Airlines and were really excited
to stay there but due to circumstances beyond my control we couldn't use the
room. Upon realizing that I called them right away and told them that we
couldn't make it (we were on our way to Whistler for a bachelor party and the
groom wasn't allowed into Canada due to a dui he got 8 years ago when he was
22!). I have contacted The hotel multiple times and Alaska Airlines travel
partner and have been essentially told to stick it. I manage a retail business
(which doesn't pay very much so I really want some of my money back) and in my
business if someone doesn't use a service I dont think its fair to charge them
for it especially if they have other circumstances! If this is their attitude at
this hotel don't risk staying there!!!!

The Globe and Mail featured a June special for $79 rooms. We booked a "deluxe 2
Queen room" for our family and stayed Saturday and Sunday night.
I had heard that there was a nightclub on the ground floor of the hotel (Buffalo
Bills) and I asked the staff on two occasions if our room would be away from the
club noise. We were given a room on the back of the hotel - but even with closed
windows and earplugs, the blasting Saturday night music seemed to come through
the floors and walls (I am sure a deaf person would feel the pulsing beat). Our
entire family was up at 2:30. The only reason we decided to stay a second night
was the hope that the club closed earlier on Sunday. Fortunately, it wasn't so
bad on Sunday night.
The room itself was fine. It was modern (except for the tv) with W-fi, an ipod
docking station, a ambient noise machine (did not drown out the bar noise), and
a walk in "rain" shower. The halls are a dark mossy charcol and give the place a
dingy feel. The single elevator is very slow and shaky. Unfortunately, you have
to wait for and squeeze into the elevator to travel one floor to the pool. The
pool itself is very small. It was hard to relax with people in the Greek
restaurant looking out at us from their tables.
I would only recommend this hotel to a young partier who likes the mod features
and can sleep through anything.

We wanted a get away for a few days and chose the Adera with the great offer
they were advertising under Whistler Tourism @$79.00 per night for May/June.
They didn't advertise the $20.00 nightly parking plus taxes applicable.
Sadly our room had no view and overlooked a restaurant patio area that was
untidy and Buffalo Bills.
The room was clean and modestly furnished but adequate for our needs ( a comfy
chair would have been beneficial).
Our disappointment was the sound from other rooms and we were also close to the
elevator which could be heard operating. Sleep was interrupted with sounds from
Buffalo Bills below us into the early hours of the morning with music and
patrons conversations underneath us.
Disappointing visit with the noise issues and the style of hotel was not to our
satisfaction with no amenities offered.
We will definitely review more thoroughly before considering specials offered in
future planning getaways and consider personal needs along with quieter
locations for our visits. |
