Hotel Review of the Four Seasons Hotel

We were greeted by the friendly valet parking, as we entered the main
lobby area, this wonderful scent of Oriental Lillies enveloped us as we
entered.
The front desk staff were very helpful and gave us information on all of
the services at the Hotel. We were travelling with our pet and so we
were also given a pet welcome kit with all their policies. We decided to
book a deluxe one-bedroom suite, and we were not disappointed at all, it
was enormous and nicely decorated. The bathroom was almost as big as our
tiny living room in downtown Vancouver.
We ordered room service for dinner and since we are vegetarians, we
ordered the marguerite pizza and the goat cheese pizza, itdid take them
a good 45-60 minutes to deliver the food but it was totally worth it,
very polite attendants.
We have stayed a couple of other hotels in Whistler, but this is in fact
the best one.
Check out was speedy and Ayako, the front desk agent that day was
extremely helpful.
The suite was a bit on the pricey side, but we definitely got what we
paid for.

You can almost never go wrong with a Four Seasons, but this hotel is a
bit less fancy than what I define as a typical Four Seasons hotel. The
room had 2 single beds (was surprised of the singles, rather than
doubles), a large TV (no movie channels), and a sitting area. The
bathroom was very large with a glass-enclosed shower, tub, and double
sink. The walk-in closet was also very large. There was a balcony, but
it was not so easy to access with the door being right next to one of
the beds.
The grounds were beautiful with a heated pool, several hottubs, and an
outside bar/eating area. The gym and spa were also quite nice.
Service was decent, but had to call the concierge again after he said he
would call me with an answer and waited in line at the check-in desk for
10 minutes to get my keycard reactivated. In addition, I never received
the receipt I requested by e-mail. Not huge deals, but usually never a
problem at other Four Seasons. It is also one of the furthest hotels
from the Village. Parking is very expensive ($39).

We've stayed at many other Four Seasons properties around the world,
because of the great service and their "Golden Rule". But we won't be
staying at this one. We originally made a tentative reservation for a
deluxe room for the last week of July for the two of us and our four
year old daughter. Later we called back to see if there were any less
expensive moderate rooms available in August. They confirmed that a
moderate room was available for the second week of August with the third
night free. They also mentioned that there would be a treat waiting for
our daughter. So it was clear that three people would be staying in the
room. They quoted a total price of $1,754 consistent with a moderate
room with third nights free. We told them we would confirm by credit
card the next day after we purchased the airline tickets. They agreed.
After purchasing non refundable airline tickets we called back to
confirm the hotel reservation and were told that our reservation was for
a deluxe room because only two people can stay in a moderate room due to
fire code regulations. Rather than admitting that they made a mistake,
the reservation agent said he would investigate and get back to me. The
next day I was shocked to receive an e-mail claiming that there was no
record of them quoting me a moderate room rate. They could have easily
upgraded us, but chose not to. There is no Four Seasons Golden Rule at
this property. Instead it's a major case of CYA.

This hotel is new and very nicely decorated. It feels like a Disneyland
- but in a good way. There is a ski concierge by the slopes where you
can drop off your skis and snowboards, so it's really convenient to get
a drink or hang out with friends after a day of skiing / snowboarding.
The service is great like any other Four Seasons. There are nice touches
like smores and snacks by the pool. My boyfriend twisted his arm during
snowboarding and the ski concierge sent him a box of chocolates and a
note that wishes him feel better!

We travelled from Ireland and stayed for a week in early Jan 2010 - so
apologies that I am only posting the review now! Its a great hotel with
even better staff - we booked a one bedroom suite which was large enough
for the three of us. The living room had a small balcony and was even
bigger that our bedroom. Each night the sofa was made up into a double
bed and each morning the staff returned the room to a 'living room' The
hotel is very close to the Blackcomb lift (5min walk) and the ski
concierge service is awesome. We booked our skis and boots at the hotel
ski shop on arrival and they were ready to collect as the base station
within 30mins! I can't compliment the staff highly enough - I got a sore
throat during the week and breakfast waiter recommended hot lemon, honey
and ginger which arrived every time I came to breakfast! One of our
party also had an accident on the mountain and was taken down by the ski
patrol and ambulance - the hotel immediately arranged for the hotel car
to meet us and take us to and from the clinic. I would recommend the
hotel without hesitation and having stayed in other hotels in Whistler,
this is really the best.... so we plan to go back this year!

We stayed last summer ... the hottest August on record. We were thrilled
we stayed here if for no other reason it was air conditioned. However,
we had a very nice room with a fireplace we sure didn't need, spacious
bathroom, nice balcony with view and table and chairs. Nice for reading
the paper and early morning tea. Pool was small but okay. The shuttle
was easy to catch and the landscaping was lovely as was the lobby. |
