Hotel Review of the Fairmont Hotel Chateau Whistler
Jun 29, 2010
I went with my husband to the Chateau Whistler for his business trip.
The hotel was lovely and I would definitely go again. It is close enough
to the villag eto go for a nice walk and yet far enough to be quiet and
away from the nightlife that goes on in the village square. The food at
the restaurant was expensive and the drinks at the bar were about $12
each. Pricey! But the pool was fantastic and the poolside service was
also great but expensive. The pool had about 4 hot tubs and a fun pool
as well as a lap pool.
The steam room was fantastic and was inclusive of the price. The spa was
pricey but worth it!!!
Note that this hotel is a upper end hotel and so the prices reflect
that.
The rooms were nice and the beds were quite comfortable with duvets and
a coffee machine . Our room was on the 10th floor and had a fantastic
view of Blackcomb mountain. The curtains were so dark that I slept until
930 and had NO IDEA that it was sunny and light outside. I really liked
that.

Five star facility. First Class. Beautiful hotel room, restaurant, bar
area, swimming pool, garden, lobby area, and club / lounge floor. This
Fairmont achieves and sets the standard for luxury accommodations,
service staff and sometimes value. we will definitely return to the
Fairmont Chateau Whistler Resort.

We spent three nights at the end of May beginning of June at this lovely
property. The hotel is a pretty large property. The difference in cost
between self park and valet is only $ 5.00 so I opted to go with the
valet, knowing that this property is in the upper village and is a
little bit of walk to the main whistler village were all the shops and
restaurants are located.
Check in was a breeze, the valet had our room key ready for us on
arrival. We stayed in a Fairmont Gold level room. The hotel bills the
gold rooms as a hotel within a hotel. There is a fantastic lounge which
offers breakfast and appetizers in the evening. These rooms also have a
dedicated concierge to help with activity planning and reservations.
The room felt a bit cramped with all of the furniture they tried to
squeeze in. It also felt a bit dated. What hotel that bills itself as a
5 star hotel doesn't have flat screen tv's. The overall decor felt dated
with all of the gold fixtures in the bathroom. However my two main
criteria in judging hotel rooms are the comfort of the bed and the water
pressure in the shower and all I can say is amazing! They pretty close
to getting it perfect here.

I have always thought the biggest measure of a hotel is the staff. They
make or break a hotel. The staff at this hotel are fantastic! Everyone
always had a smile on their face with a warm greeting for you.
It was definitely low season during our visit as we had the pool area to
ourselves most of the time. The pool/fitness area is fantastic. 4
Jacuzzi's a pool for the kids and lap pool with music piped into the lap
pool. There is also a co ed sauna and in the changing rooms are steam
rooms. A top notch facility.
We also made use of the Vida spa on this visit and they do a great job
there.
We didn't eat in the restaurants, but did make use of the lounge several
times. The Mallard lounge is well known for creative cocktails to which
I can attest. The service was impeccable as was the food which could be
ordered from the restaurant menus.
I would definitely return to this hotel, it would be nice to see the
rooms updated a bit, but with the staff they have I am willing to
overlook these little hiccups.

We had an amazing experience last weekend at The Fairmont in Whistler.
Decided to upgrade to Fairmont Gold and was duly impressed with the
entire experience. Concierge staff were knowledgeable, attentive and the
daily breakfast creative and delicious. Booked into the David Leadbetter
at their golf course ( a must experience) the new Teaching Professional
(Nick) from their Florida operation gave my son and i personal lessons
for 2 days, having been to other camps in the past their approach and
teaching methods were like no other. Tremendous value and the whole
package of teaching left us much more confident about our game. The
hotel and its staff's attention to provide guests with 5 Star service
was very evident for the 3 days we spent there. Particularly the
Housekeeping, Front Desk, Doorman and Golf shuttle attendants. At night
after a long day of golf we decided to go to Hy's Steakhouse, this is
another must do, the restaurant, food and service is amongst the best we
have experienced. The Village was brimming with tourists, many street
entertainers added to the ambience of this majestic Resort. For sure we
will return in August with a larger group to golf and dine in some of
the 100 of more local restaurants. There are so many activity options
for visitors its hard to choose what to do, Next time we will hold our
breath and do the Ziptrek.

We spent one night at this hotel during a mini tour of Canada and it
certainly didn’t disappoint. It was everything you’d expect from a
Fairmont Hotel. We were allocated room 312 overlooking the pool, which
we were told was a refurbished room. The room was en suite and equipped
with large comfortable beds, TV, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer
and superior bathroom with shaving mirror, toiletries and over bath
shower.
As this was a tour to celebrate a very special anniversary, the hotel
laid on some very yummy strawberries covered in chocolate. Free wi-fi
was available in the rooms. The setting of the hotel was just stunning
and it is just a short walk to many other hotels, bars, shops and
restaurants.
As our package did not include breakfast, we went to ‘Portobellos’,
which is part of the hotel and provides ‘breakfasts on the go’, which
was adequate and tasty prior to setting off to Vancouver early that
morning.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to other
travellers.Hotel Review of the Fairmont Hotel Chateau Whistler

Great hotel. Staff was friendly, courteous and very helpful. The Chateau
had all the amenities we needed. Room was nice, but somewhat
underwhelming after the grandeur of the lobby.

Our family of four recently spent the weekend at the Fairmont Chateau
Whistler and loved it! We arrived early but they had our room ready so
after parking and unpacking, we were in the pool by noon. Parking seems
pricy at first ($28 for self parking, $33 for valet parking) but the
parking fee covered the time from check in (11:30am) until 6:30pm the
following day. Essentially, we got a weekend's worth of parking for the
cost of a one night parking pass. We got an excellent room rate as May
is low season. The hotel is very well priced considering the excellent
quality of customer service and facilities.
We were greeted very warmly by all of the staff. The hotel must hire
people based on skills + personality because the customer service skills
of everyone we encountered were amazing.
Our room had two queen beds in a fairly large room (deluxe two queen
room) with a very large bathroom and a lovely view of the slopes of
Blackcomb and Whistler. We had very comfortable sleeps. There was a
large armoire with drawers, a tv, minifridge and coffee maker. The
closet had several good quality hangers, shelves, and a fairly large
easy to use safe. The room was larger than we expected and nicely
decorated. Although there was no balcony, we were able to open the
windows a bit and enjoy fresh clean mountain air. |
