Hotel Review of the Adara Hotel Whistler
Aug 5, 2010
We arrived at the Adara Hotel two hours before the 4pm check in. The staff was
polite, but they seemed to forget who we were every time we returned to see if
our room was ready. At 4pm we were given our keys and sent to the room. The
hallway was long and rather dark. Our room, at first glance, was quite nice.
Big, a king size bed plus a sofa. Nice size bathroom with big shower, no tub.
The room was fully equipped...hair dryer, microwave, tea pot, French coffee
maker, coffee packet, cable TV, and a small refrigerator. But on closer
examination the hotel needs some repairs...paint chipped in the halls and rooms,
a lamp with a broken switch, bathroom in need of a little more attention. The
hotel had a nice pool and surrounding area. But the real problem came at night.
We were on the top floor, but across the street there was an outdoor cafe and
the noise was constant. Impossible to sleep. Even after the cafe closed, people
continued to linger and engaged in loud conversations until 2 or 3 in the
morning.

We have stayed in many different hotels in Whister. This one we booked because
of the reduced rate and the location.
When we arrived we didnt mind the style of the hotel but it looks a little run
down for a 4 star. As one of the other reviewers mentioned the elevator is
really slow and you arrive to a hallway that is old and in need of a face-lift.
Our room was dusty and old but I could have lived with it for the 3 nights. The
issue is the noise..the noise is unbearable!! Our room was above Buffalo Bills
nightclub and the base really does come through the floors. I didn't sleep the
first night and went down to the front desk to complain.
No one said sorry and I kind of felt that they thought were were whining. They
made me feel like it was our fault! The manager actually said, "the village is
always loud"..after mentioning that I had stayed in nearly all of the hotels in
Whistler we were moved to the "quiet side". which was much better but not worth
another stay ever(and the parking is $20)..ANY OTHER HOTEL IN WHISTER IS BETTER
THAN THIS ONE...

Thank you to this guest for taking the time to bring these concerns to our
attention. We sincerely apologize for making this guest feel like they were
“whining”, this was certainly not the hotel’s intention. By moving the guest to
an alternate suite, the hotel was acknowledging the concern and acting quickly
to resolve the situation.
Many of the hotels in the Whistler Village share common areas with retail
suppliers, restaurants and some with bars and nightclubs. Many guests choose
hotels for this reason, but certainly not all guests. Most of the time this does
not pose a problem with the guests that stay at the Adara Hotel, but on occasion
we do have concerns about noise that must be addressed.
We work to provide a relaxing location in the heart of Whistler Village, were
the activities and adventure are only steps away.

We stayed in late July and the location is good and the service was also good.
The staff were helpful and always pleasant.
The only issue was that the decor in room was of relatively poor quality,
laminated particle board for the most part and the laminate was coming off.
The air conditioner in our room was rather loud and woke my wife up every time
it came on. Don't think there was anything wrong with it it's just an in wall
unit with the compressor and van and all in the room.
The valet parking wasn't free. It was 20$ a night. For Whistler that seems
pretty normal.
For Whistler it's a good value for the price.

Just a quick note. We went on offseason and it was great. Almost stayed
at a backpackers but at this price it was worth a couple extra dollars.
Modern facility with a retro ski-resort kinda feel

Have stayed in Whistler many times, and for us, the Adara Hotel provided
the best experience. This smaller boutique hotel was easy to find and so
convenient with valet parking included. No circling around in dark
parkade, we just left our vehicle at the front door and it was taken
care of for us. The front desk staff were a pleasure to deal with, very
efficient and friendly, from the reservation process a couple of weeks
earlier (when they answered all my questions and accommodated our
special requests), to the in person easy check in.
The decor is warm and vibrant and inviting with far more personality
than at places far more expensive. The rooms are spacious and bright
with modern, nature-inspired touches. We loved the 'convenience centre'
with microwave and good size fridge as well as plenty of counter space
and food storage. We easily fixed several of our own healthy meals and
saved the added cost of always eating out. The bathrooms are a delight
with high end natural toiletries and a fantastic rain shower. We chose a
loft room and found the sofa bed to be very comfortable and the queen
bed in the loft was divine. It was easy to control the room temperature.
The large outdoor patio with table and chairs really extended the living
space. The mountain views were inspiring. We were on the 3rd floor and
booked adjoining rooms which were very convenient and peaceful. We
enjoyed the heated pool, hot tub and outdoor space very much. The
Adara's location is on a quiet crescent in Whistler Village. You are
literally steps to everything. We highly recommend this hotel and give
it top marks for value, convenience, amenities, service and comfort. we
will definitely be coming back!

We were looking for a decent, affordable place to stay. Checked up on
prices and some reviews and Adara looked the best. The staff are very
friendly. The one bedroom suite was really lovely. It was relaxing and
had a nice atmosphere in it. Loved the comfort of the bed and the
fireplace added that touch of cosiness in the suite. Also loved that the
bedroom was upstairs! We enjoyed our stay and would come back again!

My wife and I went to Whistler for the weekend for some fun, sun and
mountain biking. We wanted to stay right in the village and some place
that also had a little funk. This cool hotel
was everything we hoped. Funky decor, friendly help full staff, and a
awesome location. We
didn't have time to enjoy the pool but plan to on our next visit. Just
quick walk from the door and you are in the thick of Whistler enjoying
the great bars and restaurants. This is a great hotel for the young
upbeat professional looking to enjoy a high energy trip to Whistler.

I was really happy to have found a hotel that provided decent pillows
and mattress - especially after travelling in Mexico where I have come
to expect concrete. The staff was great and while previous reviews had
me concerned about noise level, we were there on a Monday-Tuesday and
did not hear a peep from the bar below. All in all it was a great
experience and I would book there again. |
