Review of the Queen Victoria Hotel

Nice big room, clean, comfortable beds, - what more could you want? Would have
given it 5 stars to "Excellent" if not for the very cramped parking. That's the
ONLY thing that was worth complaining about. And Samuel's Restaurant on the main
floor was wonderful (pricey - but wonderful). Close to everything downtown and
yet after 11 PM - quiet.

clean hotel within a few mins walk of harbour, slightly older hotel but in good
condition.
we had room 320 , situated as far as possible from the lift and with very few
people passing our door, so very quiet.
Parking access is not clear and could be a tight sqeeze for larger vehicles but
other points of access around the back of the hotel allow easier entry

I stayed at the Queen Victoria back in mid May. I had just come off a cruise
ship and stayed for two nights. I was booked in a one bedroom studio that was in
the corner of the building. Everything was great except the windows did not
soundproof from the street traffic below. Finally fell asleep around 1 am. Next
day asked staff if they had a quieter room and they moved me free of charge to a
two queen beds room. Not only did I have the street noise, still not insulated
well enough, but I also had noise from the hallway and ice machine. Needless to
say I had another sleepless night. The hotel staff did everything they could to
try and please me but there is only so much the staff can do. So if you are a
light sleeper like me I recommend finding another hotel in the area. If the
noise is not an issue then this is a great place to stay in a great location
close to shopping and sites.

we live app.200 K from this hotel and had been there before. The advertized type
of room was a king or queen sized bedroom. We were advised to reserve early to
get a king. size so we reserved app.3 months ahead. On arrival the room we were
given was 1 of the 3 smallest on the floor, with a queen sized bed although it
seems much smaller than ours at home. The bathroom was too small to even change
clothing. The So called patio was shared with the next room separated by a piece
of small, loose plywood. It afforded a nice view of the parking lot. To end on a
positive note, there was lots of hot water!
