Well I thought this would be a nice classic hotel in downtown Victoria and classic is right. I will start off with the Positives, the front desk area is pretty nice and the underground parking is wonderful. However this place needs a renovations, the elevator stinks and makes really bad noises and honestly scary. People roam the hallways (I assume they rent rooms long term here). There is faded old wall paper on the walls, the appliances in the kitchenette look like they are from the 70s. The fan in the bathroom sounds like a jet engine. There is absolutely no sound barrier between the rooms, the shower next door woke me up at 6 in the morning. The plumbing is horribly loud. The tv is an old CRT widescreen with a faded picture and just looks like crap, the mattress was nothing fancy and the "lounge" chairs felt like they had all the padding squeezed out of them. The table chairs had stains on them. I won't be staying here again.

Stayed here for 1 night and got a great deal on a standard room ($56CAD+tax). I knew going in what to expect: really old rooms and good location. And you know what? That's really it. Don't stay here for anything else.

Staff are odd. The girl at check-in was quick to warn me of the hotel's anti smoking policy/fees. That's standard - but then what's with all the ashes in my bathtub? Lol.. she also told me she was having a bad day (pet peeve of mine when hotel receptionists tell me that they're having a bad day). The room was hideous as I expected, but who cares for $56? However, those beds are so hard! A couple of drinks at the bar with friends helped that though. Bed was clean.

All in all... this is your basic crash pad. It's only worth it if you get a GREAT deal and need to be in the harbor for cheap. Talking about my stay later on, staff informed me that this used to be a Ramada and that the lady that runs this place (Rita?) is fierce and keeps them on edge. Makes sense.

Quiet, comfortable and clean. Comfortable bed with nice pillows. The room I was in appeared to have been renovated recently. Good value close to the Inner Harbour and downtown. Friendly and helpful staff. Very reasonable seasonal rate. No complaints.
The restaurant didn't appear to be too promising so I didn't try it.

the staff was excellent.
because we have a little dog it felt as if we were relegated to the most undesirable room. in addition we had to pay the same as a regular room and also a pet fee. if people with pets are put in the least desirable rooms there should be a discount.

My family has gone to Victoria many times. Each time we try to stay at a different hotel to get an idea of what each one offers. Unfortunately, the Huntingdon doesn't offer much except for a good location.
We stayed in one of the rooms equipped with a kitchen. Usually when you book a room with a kitchen it's because you're expecting to use it. And you would think that would be a shared idea between the hotel and the occupant. But no, in order to use the kitchen that you specifically ordered the room for, you have to pay an extra charge for them to open the kitchen (which is just unlocking some cupboards and, I assume, turning on the gas). To make it worse we weren't even informed about the charge until we checked in and were asked if we wanted access to the kitchen. Also, no utensils are provided in the room. They have a coffee machine with coffee/tea but nothing to stir in the powdered cream/sugar (that they do provide).
On top of that we had to repeatedly request housekeeping to leave extra towels instead of the one set they would leave. I've never had to do that before.
And don't even try to go to the Gatsby restaurant. The couple nights that we tried to go, there was only one waiter and the wait was 45 minutes or more. That is unacceptable.
Just stay away from this place. Everything is overpriced and the whole place has an air of shabbiness that we should have figured out from the peeling paint on the building when we first arrived (that the pretty pictures on the website don't show).
