We traveled from far northern British Columbia with a group of 25 Grade 10
students and 5 chaperones to visit Parliament, the Provincial Museum, the
University, Colleges, and the other attractions of Victoria. We had hoped to
stay in UVic Residences for $55 a quad per night, but after they pulled the rug
out from under us, we booked the Blue Ridge Inn based on its Trip Advisor
Reviews for $79 a room. We were not disappointed.
The hotel is built around a parking area across the street from Mayfair Mall,
one of Victoria's best. Within two blocks, there are Greek and Japanese
restaurants, a Starbucks, a KFC, a Denny's, a Tim Horton's, and a Macaroni
Grill, plus the Mall Food Court, making it easy to keep a group fed within a
contained area, especially at breakfast. There's convenient city bus service.
The rooms are big enough to hold two double beds and ample dresser space,
there's a mini-kitchen with fridge, and the bathrooms are adequate. Staff is
pleasant and helpful, and cleaning was done meticulously. Each kid had his/her
own electronic room key, a great convenience. There's a small pool and sauna as
well. It's a quiet placeafter about 9 PM, and it's in a pleasant neighborhood.
If you're traveling with a group on a budget, this makes a fine home away from
home. I'd definitely stay there again under similar circumstances.

Maintenance and service staff excellent. You have given rebirth to an aging
building, via service and cleanliness. For anyone wanting to spend a few days in
Victoria in a very comfortable setting, within easy walking distance of downtown
Victoria - this is the place you want to stay - Well done!

My friend and I recently stayed at the Blue Ridge Inn and thoroughly enjoyed our
3 night stay. Our 1 bedroom suite with kitchenette was comfortable, cozy and
roomy. I would definitely stay there again. A great hotel at a great price.

The price is definitely right for a longer stay on a budget. However, there were
just too many issues of maintenance to make this a place we would return to. We
didn't go in expecting the kind of lodging you get at a 3 start hotel and so the
'dirty' carpets (really just old, ground in stains and dirt) were not a
surprise. Broken light fixtures, burnt out bulbs, key cards that don't work
(machine was broken) and, the last straw, a definitely broken hide-a-bed which
we had to jury-rig ourselves in order to be able to sleep on it all added up to
just too much inconvenience. The kitchen is adequate and having a separate
bedroom made for a roomy stay. Didn't find it too noisy and the convenient
parking was great and a big attraction for us because we were coming and going
lots. Good location near Galloping Goose Trail was nice. Starbucks very close is
nice. No issues with odours from the KFC. Staff worked hard to be very helpful
and friendly and would have made up for all the minor inconveniences but for
that "last straw".

The Blue Ridge Inn in Victoria was a very nice. The rooms are a good size and
ours came with a mic. and frdge at no extra charge. The front desk staff were
very friendly and solved a couple of small concerns very quickly for us. The
indoor pool and sauna were exceptional, as well as kept very clean. Convenient
location as it was quick to get to Downtown, Esquimalt, or out to Sydney. I
would definitely stay there again.

Nice hotel, but it’s still a bit out of town, you’ll need a bus to go to town or
half an hour walk at least. The rooms are well cleaned, there is no breakfast.
We used it, because we needed to take the ferry early, in that case it’s a great
option, we couldn’t use an breakfast anyhow because of the early departure,
meanwhile there a enough options to drive trough. It’s not the best neighborhood
if you’re looking for nice surroundings; in the middle of car sales spots, but
with the bus you’re in town quick and you’re quick out of town, and the desk is
24h serviced.

Noisy but otherwise OK for the price
If you have a very light sleep, I wouldn’t recommend it as it is quite noisy.
The room was clean, they have friendly staff and they have a swimming pool that
was a plus for the children

Victoria can be a pricey place to stay, so we took a chance on this hotel -
about the cheapest we could find online. It turned out to be a winner. The room
was spacious and clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the indoor pool
was the warmest I’ve ever been in. The hotel is also just across the street from
a mall, which is handy. And it is not difficult to get to from the inner harbor
- just catch a bus on Douglas Street and it’s about 2 miles. All in all, this is
a great place to stay if your budget doesn’t stretch to the Empress!
If the weather is good, take the bus out to Fort Rodd and check out the
historical site - fantastic views across the water.

We definitely enjoyed our stay in this motel. The rooms were very clean with no
broken fixtures or any deficiencies. The price and location were perfect for our
family. WE'll stay at this motel again next time we visit Victoria. |
