Cannot beat the location...right on the water. We got front row view of the
fireworks on BC weekend. Very close to Chinatown, museum, restaurants. The hotel
is a little on the older side, will need some remodeling soon. Main gripe is the
underground parking. Though you have to pay for parking, there is simply not
enough parking spots for hotel guest. Could be frustrating if you were charged
for parking.

We had a second floor, one-bedroom suite, ocean view. Wow what a view.
Of course there is harbour noise, planes, water taxis, ferries and yes, sea
gulls.
We found at night it quieted down fairly early.
Our issue was we are used to air conditioning, and we didn't have any. I asked
at the desk and they said most Victoria rooms don't have air conditioning.
Our room had two larger doors, one set from the living room to the balcony and
one from the bedroom to the balcony. Late afternoon the hotel staff would come
in and open the patio doors and let fresh air in. Early evening it would start
to cool off. So all in all not to bad. During the warmest part of the day we
were out sight-seeing anyway.
We enjoyed the Continental Breakfast, which offered a good variety and was a
nice start to the day. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Our location offered us the smell of Airplane fuel several times a day.It didn't
last for long but still was not very pleasant. However if you want harbour view,
then I guess that is one of the trade offs.
We liked sitting on the balcony and enjoying a coffee while watching all the
busy going-ons in the Harbour. Beautiful sunny days and sun sets.
Cab to get to Airport (for a direct route, $50 plus tip), hotel does not have
its own shuttle, but we did take a shuttle from the airport to the hotel which
we could have got on the return trip. (Shuttle about $60-70 for two of us, one
way and several stops depending on other passengers).

Listen - if you are going to stay on the harbor, expect harbor noises. From
gulls to pubs and from ship horns to airplanes landing. But - what a view, what
a fantastic location to spend a couple days. I have been around the world as my
travel map shows you - and Victoria is truly one of the prettiest harbors
around. Whale tours, museums, restaurants, shops, street market, seals, ships
and totem poles - all within a very short enjoyable walk. The room was huge - a
one bedroom suite. Nice continental breakfast, friendly and helpful staff and
very clean rooms. One suggestion to the hotel - buy a new cot - the current one
in 705 is more like a hammock in its current condition. ;-}

Perfect location in the city centre on the waterfront with stunning views of the
harbour. Perfect for sight-seeing, shopping and restaurants. The room was clean
and spacious and fabulous value for money considering the location. Parking
underneath the hotel was ideal, breakfast served overlooking the harbour.
Breakfast itself was mediocre, avoid and go to many of the vibrant and quirky
cafes close by. Hotel staff were happy to help. A great find in an amazing city.

Victoria was our second stop on our honeymoon. We checked in and found our room
on the 5th floor. It was not huge, but fit the king size bed, desk,
refrigerator, and a large closet. The bathroom was very big in proportion to the
rest of the room. There was a small balcony connected to the room with a table
and chairs set-up. Our room overlooked the city but I believe the other side of
the hotel overlooks the harbor. It was very pleasant eating breakfast out on the
balcony in the morning. One of the best things about the hotel was the parking.
The Victoria Regent has an underground parking garage that you can access with
your room key. It is included in the room price and felt very secure. It was
nice not to have to wait (or pay) for a valet to get the car. The hotel was
right across from Bastion Square and a short walk to the harbor. The staff was
friendly, there was a small business center with a printer, and the front of the
hotel is nicely landscaped. The front desk personnel were helpful in pointing us
toward some things to do and gave us a map. We are very happy we found this
hotel and would definitely stay again.
