Review of the Sandman Hotel Victoria

Check-in was good and staff very friendly. The room had
a few quirks ...only 2 regular towels for 2 adults left
in bathroom with a door that didn’t close properly and a
toilet that had flushing challenges. The air
conditioner/fan was a bit noisy Generally, a ok value
for the price of the room.

Vancouver Island is expensive, breath takingly expensive
most of the time, The sandman was good value in that
context, the parking is free and after a couple of hours
getting lost around Victoria I was glad to dump the car
and walk into town for a bit. The room was fine, quite
nice even , nothing stunning but clean and had
everything you want with a decent comfortable bed. The
reception staff were friendly and helpful and the
internet was free and fast enough.

The worst of all sandman hotels I have stayed at. The
front desk staff was not able to help us to find places
to eat or things to do. I never ever had a problem like
that where staff tell you to look at the books for
tourists. Even the front desk manager was rude also try
to find another place to have breakfast if you are
running on a schedule. They have the slowest service.
Not impressed and would never stay here. It is sad that
a sandman hotel is so bad.

I want to thank the front desk agent, who was working on
July 17th on the afternoon shift.
I can to Victoria for an unfortunate situation. My
grandfather was dying of lung cancer and was given 3
days. After having a very back experience at another
hotel, we came to the Sandman. The front desk agent did
her best to accommodate us in a nearly full hotel due to
2 weddings and a car show in town. She went above and
beyond to make sure we had everything we need and even
upgrade us to a suite, as we were 4 adults.
That is where I will be staying anytime I visit
Victoria.

We were traveling with our 26 yr old daughter and booked
a suite. We "assumed" that there would be a door between
front room and rear room. NOT! If she was watching a
different show on TV the sounds were competing. Also
hotel is not as close to down town as you would believe.
Not in my walking distance anyway.
