We secured this hotel through price line - seemed like a
good deal but was not great - hotel very basic and
somewhat run down, rate was not inexpensive - nearby was
Best Western and on the waterfront - Days Inn which
would have been better options at this price point.
Pictures shown of the room with a kitchenette - were
pretty deceptive.

We have stayed here for the past 4 years in a row (at
least 4 nights per trip). In the past, we have enjoyed
the location, the bed and breakfast rate and
accommodating staff. This year, we have enjoyed only the
location. Guess they can't screw with that. Otherwise,
the rates have gone way up, with no corresponding
increase in quality or service, and we were shocked with
the lack of staff attitude. Only after arriving
(notwithstanding our reservation two months before) were
we informed that the electricity would be out from 9am
to 3pm one day. When we called the general manager, he
could care less, advising that it was really only the
elevators which would be out of service. We, and all
guests, were free to take the stairwell. All good, so
far, except that we were on the 7th floor (out of 12).
The schlepp up and down was not our idea of a relaxing
vacation. We enjoy a little exercise, but come on,
folks. BTW, the gm left on vacation the same day. Guess
he wasn't up to taking the stairs.

Both the heated pool and hot tub (well advertised hotel
services) were totally out of commission. We were not
advised of these issues and when we asked the front desk
(after trying to access these services), they stated we
could go to another hotel's pool in the area and refused
any responsibility or offered any concessions. We will
not be returning.

This was a very nice hotel. It could use a little
updating. The staff was outstanding. One of ladies I was
with accidentally dropped her camera chip off our 6th
floor down to the 1st floor roof. We called the front
desk and they called the maintenance man, who was
already off duty and at home. He came in a couple of
minutes and crawled up on the roof and found it for her.
Will stay there again

I learned about the spacious two-room suites at the
Harbour Towers years ago from a colleague and have
wanted to stay there ever since. My wife and I finally
made the trip last week, along with our infant son, and
the accommodations were ideal for our needs.
The hotel is a little dated and the furniture a bit
worn, but overall everything is clean and in okay
condition. Moreover, the hotel has several advantages
that are hard to beat:
- location just a block from the Clipper and Black Ball
ferry terminals
- spacious two-room suite (ideal for letting our son go
to sleep early in the bedroom while we stayed up in the
living room)
- kitchenette - we made most of our meals in the room,
using groceries purchased from the Thrifty Foods that is
a 10 minute walk away
- view - definitely worth paying extra for a upper floor
room with a view in this location. Our harbor view was
simply unbeatable.
There was a note posted in the room stating that "soft
renovations" are being done throughout the hotel. It can
definitely use whatever work/money they want to put into
it, but you will be happy as long as you are okay with
trading a little bit of quality in order to get the
amenities described above.
Finally, the workout room is top notch and the indoor
pool appeared decent. My wife did comment that the hot
tub was not actually hot during our stay. Room Tip: It's
worth paying to get a room with a view |
