Hotel review of the Chateau Victoria Hotel and Suites

As soon as we can get back to Victoria, we will stay at Chateau Victoria again. Our room was large, clean, and updated. The staff was extremely helpful. Free internet and shuttle-( of course you should tip shuttle) The Public bus system is great- we caught bus 75 right in front of the Hotel- first stop and rode all the way to Butchart Gardens- a must see for under $10 for family of 5 each way. (30-40 min. trip- nice drive)
This hotel is right behind the famous Empress Hotel on the Harbour. Walking distance to everything you need.

Room Tip: Higher rooms with Harbour view are the best. But all rooms have a view- the city is beautiful

Stayed for 4 nights in a queen deluxe suite. Room had a separate bedroom with a queen and flat screen tv. Main room had a queen bed and a couch, table for two, microwave, fridge, sink and large flatscreen tv. Room was very clean, beds were comfortable. The only negative would be the air conditioning unit in the bedroom. It kicked on and off all night and is quite noisy. It wasn't hot while we were in Victoria, but the room was warm and just an open window wasn't enough. Hotel is in a great location. We just left the car in the parkade and walked everywhere. The only meal we ate in the Vista 18 restaurant was breakfast which was good. View was very nice, too bad it was cloudy the whole time we were there.

The bellman was very helpful and friendly as was the front desk staff.
Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again

We stayed in this hotel at the beginning of July and really enjoyed it. The location was close to all amenities and extra curricular activities were accessible. Our suite was everything that we expected. We would definitely stay there again!

Great Location right downtown Victoria within easy walking distance to the harbour and many other downtown attractions and restaurants.

Check in was seamless, though it would have been the same with a check-in kiosk/machine. Not a whole lot of personality or enthusiasm from the desk clerk. She looked like she was ready to go home and not all that interested in guests or sharing the features of the hotel or the surrounding area.

The room we had was interesting. We booked through hotwire and ended up getting a "2 room suite", but since there was only two of us we only made use of the one room. The furniture and decor was really outdated and it smelled musty/old, not just in the rooms but in the hallway also.

In short, it was far from the best hotel, but it even further from being the worst. It looks as if it used to be a Quality or Comfort Inn or something and the furniture is reminiscent of that. All in all, an okay place to stay. I would likely try something else in the future, but I wouldn't be overly upset if I had to return to this hotel.
