Guest Review of the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Victoria BC

My husband, myself and our 3 young adult children were at a family wedding
outside of Victoria on August 13, 2011. We had a suite which was 2 double beds,
a sofa bed and a single cot. There was a fridge (which we used for cold drinks)
and a stove, coffeepot, etc, which we did not. Staff let us in early to change
and go. Free valet parking was good - they asked for a 10 minute request and the
car was always there. We had no problem dropping off the car any time. The beds
were comfortable and the room was very clean. The bathroom was small but towels
and amenities were ready for us. We checked out easily and were half way through
town when I remembered my pillow. Back at the hotel Rachel, at the front desk,
and Chris Watson, the Front Office Manager were very helpful, above and beyond
the call of duty I would say. The housekeeping staff had found another pillow,
not mine. When they got back to say the room had not been scheduled for
cleaning, Chris took me to the room our family had and there was my pillow!
Rachel had taken my address to mail me the pillow (well at least the case, that
is what I really wanted) if it showed up. We checked out earlier than our
original plan and the service remained excellent. I recommend this hotel for our
type of family vacation: for those who want to be out and about but don't like
to round up the troops for breakfast elsewhere.

Quite old hotel but very well kept and rooms were lovely! All staff went above
and beyond. If you like to use stairs you have to access them from outside.
Window opens! Always a bonus for those of us who like real air! Nite club down
the street but not too noisy except some passersby after closing. We had a room
facing Johnson Street which was great! We did not eat at the Hotel Restaurant so
cannot comment on food.

Right in the heart of downtown without being too busy. Walking distance to Inner
Harbor, etc. Small, but comfortable rooms. Free bikes, but rent one elsewhere if
you want anything comfortable.
Room Tip: Asked for and got a quiet room location. There is a nightclub in
ground floor of building so ask to avoid that area if you need quiet.

The hotel is in a great location right downtown, good and helpful staff, clean,
and included valet parking was nice.
However, after ~10pm noisy bass heavy music reverberates through the hotel, and
I could not sleep. After calling down to the front desk, was told I could change
rooms if I like, but I may experience the same noise as it is a downtown hotel.
I was recommended to open the night stand, where there are a complementary pair
of earplugs and a note about the noise levels to be expected.
Staff was very nice, but for location I would never stay here again, nor
recommend it for anyone unless you are not bothered by noise, or like to stay
out late and party.
