The room at this hotel was very nice. It was a very comfortable stay.
The only hassle was that there was no elevator and we had a room on the third
floor so my husband had to carry our whole family's luggage up three flights of
stairs.

This hotel is at a convenient location and next to a park. My Garvin GPS did not
show this hotel. If you plan to use GPS, you will need write down the street
address.
It seems to be two or three building linked together. Although the outside looks
aged, the inside was nicely remodeled and clean. The lobby area was beautiful
and comfortable.
The room key was very interesting shape (see picture).
Room was good size with a small kitchen (include refrigerator, cook top,
microwave, dishes and utensils.) I like the strong and stable wifi signal and
many TV channels. However, there is only one very small window air conditioning
unit for the whole room and living area . It was noisy and aim at the bed. While
the bed area was kind of cold, the rest of the room was hot. Not the best A/C
arrangement.
Hotel does charge for parking and even with that, you may not find a parking
space if you come in late. So be aware.
Minor suggestions to management: please add some cloth hooks in the bathroom. I
had hard time finding a place to hang my cloths and towels when I showered.

We spend four nights here and loved just about everything about Helm's Inn. Its
location couldn't be better, across from the large and lovely Beacon Hill Park,
a short walk from the tourist center of the city but on a quiet, residential
street. (Walk away from the tourist zone, either east across the top of the park
to Cook Street, or west down Superior to Menzies and then south on Menzies, and
you will find neighborhood cafes and restaurants frequented by locals that are
very good.) Small suite couldn't have been cleaner, bed was comfortable, kitchen
was well equipped, staff was helpful and friendly. The idiosyncrasies were the
rather peculiar layout of the rooms, with a closet in the bedroom but the only
dresser at the far end of the parlor away from the bedroom (because the
king-size bed occupied every square inch of the small bedroom), the absence of a
mirror other than the small one above the bathroom sink, and a tiny bathroom
with no shelf for toiletries. But all of these were minor flaws, more than made
up for by the positives described above. We would definitely stay here again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay at the Helm's Inn. The rooms were recently
updated and had everything you could ask for. One negative would be there is no
elevator. We didn't mind the climb, though. The location is superb. On the same
block as the Inn is the museum and Parliament Building. Almost all of the
"things to see" are within easy walking distance. The office staff was most
helpful and they do the little things that make a visit special. For the price,
it would be hard to do better than the Helm's Inn.

Two senior couples shared a room with two comfortable double beds. We were
pleased to have the extra space in the room - a table with two chairs,
kitchenette with full size frig and dishes and utensils, a separate traditional
bathroom.
The hotel was very close to the harbour. Parking was inexpensive and very handy
for the two days we stayed.
Chris at the front desk was excellent, and the other person in the morning was
very helpful too.

We stayed at Helm's Inn for 8 nights in the middle of June, and loved absolutely
everything until the early morning of day 5. Our bedroom appeared to be adjacent
to the next apartment bathroom. So when someone decided to take a shower at 4
am, we were woken up by the noise of the water. I had a feeling I am in that
bathroom , so loud it was. Those people living next door probably were early
birds, but because of that we could not enjoy good sleep for the last 3 nights
as we had before those people arrived.
Other than that, it is a great place to stay: close to everything, but a bit
aside, not too close to entertainment places. It was very clean in our room, and
kitchenette was nice to cook breakfast or even late dinner. We enjoyed the
privacy a lot.
I think we will stay there again. However, when I book next time, I will have to
make sure that we are not offered the same combination : adjacent bedroom/
bathroom .

We were supposed to stay only 3 nights in Victoria, but we've loved it so much
that we've decided to extend! Helm's Inn was definitely a main reason why we've
enjoyed our trip so much. The rooms are very spacious, beds are comfortable, the
location is perfect for us bus travelers and the staff was amazingly nice! It
can be noisy if your window is on Douglas street, but with the AC on, we could
sleep perfectly well! We will definitely stay there again if back to Victoria! |
