Guest Review of the Dalton Hotel & Suites

Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very friendly and professional reception staff.
I was also able to check into my room early which a bonus was given the amount
of travel I did. I found the staff to be efficient, knowledgeable and courteous.
The room was clean, bright and quiet. Being downtown, I did not need a vehicle
because it was a 10min walk to the Inner Harbour and 2 min to Starbucks.
Breakfast was a bonus, especially the waffles!! Dinner voucher at The Office
restaurant was unexpected bonus!! Will definitely stay at the Dalton
again!!!!!!!!

I went there from Sunday May 20 until the 22nd, and I must say that I really
enjoyed my stay. My husband, toddler daughter and I stayed in a 2 twin bedroom,
and it was the right size for us. The beds were really comfortable, and the room
was really clean. I loved the bathroom, specially the red heat bulb. The
breakfast was way better than other hotels I have stayed. This hotel actually
has "real Belgian waffles" - you can make them yourself which is A+++ when
traveling with little ones. Location was great. We went Whale Watching, Royal BC
Museum, Bug Zoo and downtown, and we were able to walk everywhere. The location
of this hotel is great. It is also 2 blocks away from subway, and a
cyber-internet cafe.
The service from the gentleman in the front desk was really good. He answered my
questions about laundry, restaurant, and places. He was really friendly and
approachable.
The cleaning lady was really nice. She saw me with a tray (for breakfast for my
family) and offered to open the door for me.
The young man preparing the breakfast was really nice and approachable as well.
I think all of your staff is great. I hope we can see them again on our next
visit!
Now, so-so parts
I was a bit scared about the fact that the hotel is right beside a liquor store,
and that we were there on Victoria day, but my family didn't hear anything. When
making our reservation, I made sure to ask for a quite room e.i. not in the
front. I think that this helped control the noise level. We had a great sleep.
The building is a bit old, so you can hear the water passing through when people
are taking showers in the mornings, but it didn't bother me because that is part
of the "magic" of going to an older hotel.
A vent in our room was open, and we couldn't close it, but as we were there only
to sleep, it didn't bother us. Again, I believe it was like that because it is
an older building.
Overall, I think it is a great hotel for people with family. My husband and I
have decided that we will stay at Dalton's Hotel again when we go to Victoria.
It was a pleasure staying there. Guest Review of the Dalton Hotel & Suites

I was a little hesitant at first about coming to the Dalton after reading some
previous reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Check in was very quick, we
were able to go to our rooms hours before actual check-in time, and the room was
perfect for our 1 night stay, and would be good for longer as well. The bathroom
was big and clean and the beds comfy. The free breakfast was very decent. The
front desk was very efficient, helpful and polite. Walking distance to
everything. Worth it and would definitely stay here again!

I was a unsure of this hotel prior to arrival based on the reviews I'd read. I
stayed there for a week and almost all of my comments are positive. The staff
bent over backwards to accommodate all requests. I was moved to a room that was
away from street noise and given a fridge and microwave as requested. There is a
wonderful grocery store a block away so that worked out quite well. The bed was
super comfortable and the shower one of the best I've seen. Yes, it's an old
building so the elevator is slow, the floors crooked and the bathrooms small. I
did miss having some counter space for bathroom items. I missed having a dresser
and the rooms do not have a/c but there was a ceiling fan. Possibly that is
enough in Victoria. There is a free breakfast which included waffles and oatmeal
packages plus the usual toast, bagels, muffins, cold cereal and apples/oranges.
There wasn't a business centre, but the in room secure internet WI-FI connection
always worked well and when I needed something printed I had only to email it to
the front desk and pick it up the next time I was downstairs. For me the
location at the corner of Blanshard & Yates was perfect so if I returned to
Victoria for the same purpose I would stay at the Dalton again.
