Hotel review of the Chateau Victoria Hotel and Suites

I have stayed at this hotel twice on vacation. It is best to avoid the smaller
rooms on the first few floors and reserve one of the many suites on the upper
floors. There you can spread out in quiet comfort to enjoy a small suite of
rooms, which may include a separate bedroom and kitchen. It is a great place for
older travelers, who prefer quiet and accessibility to attractions over style
and workout rooms. A real bonus is the View 18 restaurant on the top floor,
which serves up an excellent breakfast and dinner, along with fabulous views
that even the single traveler can enjoy. The staff is very accommodating, and a
computer is available for a limited time to check your email, if you want to do
that sort of thing on vacation. They'll even be sure you catch the airporter
that they called for you on time! Room Tip: Avoid lower 2-3 floors of single
rooms; ask for suite on the many higher floors

My teenage son and I stayed here for two nights, Friday and Saturday, and paid
$178.50 (including tax) a night for a small but clean room with two queen beds.
The beds were comfortable, and since we spent most of our time with friends who
were staying in one of the suites, the size of the room wasn't a big (pun)
problem, but it would have been if we'd needed to spend much time in the room
itself. With only one suitcase stand, and a fair amount of photographic
equipment in addition to two bags, our ability to get around was limited.
The TV was small, but we never turned it on, so I don't know about channels and
reception. The wireless internet connections were okay, and complimentary. The
bathroom was fine, clean but nothing special. It's most notable feature was the
gap between the medallion around the tub faucet and the wall--it made me feel a
little vulnerable (imagining what kinds of things crawl around inside walls that
could come out).
The other things that made the room less inviting were the view (parking lot)
and the fact that our windows were reachable from ground level. I understand
that almost all hotels have some rooms that are less desirable, and this time we
got one. I wish, however, that hotels would categorize these rooms in some way,
and charge less for them--it feels galling to think that you're paying the same
as someone who has a much nicer view, more space, etc.
We visited both the lounge and restaurant, and enjoyed both--the restaurant has
a great view, and the breakfast service was fine, although the bar service on
Sunday afternoon was odd--inattentive, almost resentful waiter, but we didn't
really care, we were exhausted and just wanted to sit and have a drink before
getting on the ferry back to Seattle. The lounge (while quite pricey) was
great--warm, friendly waiters who made us feel welcome even though not everyone
in our group was having something.
All in all, I probably would try to find another place to stay if I came back--I
don't have any big complaints, but I bet I could find someplace nicer, and a
better deal.

My mother and I stayed at the Chateau for three nights in July. This eco-hotel
is non-smoking and actually does recycle! Our suite had a mini-kitchen with
table and chairs, a microwave, refrigerator and sink, a separate 2nd bedroom and
a balcony. The beds were very comfortable and each bed had 4 incredible pillows.
The 2nd bedroom had a unit to supply cooling/heating, although it was a bit
loud. My only suggestion to the hotel is to provide chairs on the balcony.
The desk staff were very hospitable and helpful. The maintenance and cleaning
staff kept the hotel extremely clean
The hotel is very close to restaurants and the pier. I would love to stay here
again!

Would try somewhere else next time. Room was outdated. Needed renos. Had asked
for water views and had to be moved. Lots of water damage in bathroom shower.
Room had an odour of staleness. Air conditioner not the greatest.
The best part about the hotel was Vista 18 and Sunday brunch.
