Guest Review of the Brentwood Bay Lodge & Spa in Victoria BC

I loved the reaction of the rest of my group when we pulled up to this
property- they were amazed at how beautiful it was and then couldn't stop
talking about the rooms and the view! We had based ourselves in the Saanich
Peninsula to be near the events we were attending on the weekend after
spending 2 days in Victoria's Inner Harbour. Brentwood Bay Resort is totally
relaxing and very special. I had taken advantage of their Endless Summer
promotion so we were able to stay for 3 days for the price of 2.

This hotel is AWESOME. EVERY thing you could ask in a hotel, great rooms,
hot tub on the deck, anything to please you - food was excellent - when out
of there way to make our stay awesome.

Due to doctor's orders (my wife is pregnant with our first child), we had to
cancel our reservation five nights in advance, rather than the required
seven. We appealed to a customer service agent, a manager, then wrote a
letter to the owner which went unanswered. Apparently keeping our $418 was
worth more to this hotel than keeping our future business. Unreasonable
customer service; horrible business practice.

We stayed here in June and I almost didn't write a review because I didn't
want to put someone off from staying here because the rooms are very nice.
This is a great property if you would like to get a massage and stay in your
room and have complete piece and quite. I really don't bore that easily but
I found myself always wanting to leave and go somewhere else. I never went
to the pool because it faces the restaurants and that was not appealing to
me. I also like to get out and walk around and that is very limited unless
you want to want around peoples houses because this property is in a
residential area. I would have preferred to stay downtown after having
stayed there. Absolutely do not miss Butchart gardens as this was one of the
main reasons I visited it did not disappoint. I just wish the roses had of
been in bloom. What a beautiful place. Also go downtown it is a nice place
to walk around and check out the museums. Went on a whale watch but after
the whale watches in Maui this was disappointing. That is the good and bad
of travel you can get a little spoiled. Glad I went to Victoria just kind of
wish I had stayed downtown.

Although we didn't stay at this property (we prefer a great B&B in the area
) we did eat at the Brentwood Pub given the derth of good places to eat in
the area without having to trek into Victoria. We wanted to go to Cafe
Zinzabar but their hours are pretty restrictive so we opted for the
Brentwood Pub instead.
We had a fine meal -- great service and good quality gastro-pub food served
with some fine local brews on tap.
I'm only writing this review because staying in the Brentwood Bay area there
isn't much to enjoy, and given the beer on tap this is really the only
option in the area as far as I'm concerned. |
