Review of the Royal Scot Suite Hotel Victoria

My husband and I stayed there one night for a quick
Victoria getaway. We arrived by ferry at 11am and
thought that since check in time wasn't until 4ish we
would just stash our luggage and head out. The front
desk was amazing! They informed us that the small studio
room we booked would not be available but if we wanted
to upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite (no charge) we could
have a room now. Of course we did!
The room was huge! Very clean and tasteful. I have read
other reviews that say it needs updating, and maybe it
does a little, but it is certainly NOT that bad. NOT
some 70's catastrophe.
We swam in the pool and enjoyed the jacuzzi. We had
breakfast at the restaurant on site and it was
delicious.
They also offer a complimentary shuttle in the downtown
area. We took advantage of it and had dinner at Prime
Steak House. (Awesome!) But walked back to enjoy
evening.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in
Victoria.
We did not have a car and the location was perfect. 1
1/2 blocks from the ferry from Port Angeles. About 2
blocks from the Museum and a few blocks farther takes
you to some great restaurants.

Wife and I stayed here just as stopover nights to and
from Tofino. For that purpose, the hotel suited us
perfectly. Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms were
clean, if a bit dated (as mentioned previously).
However, that pretty much puts it in perfect company in
Victoria anyhow. :) Suits the city.
Location couldn't be better. Quarter block to the
Legislature building, block to the harbour, 5 minutes
walk to The Empress and all the good restaurants in that
area.
Beds were comfy, which is the most important aspect
anyhow.
Would definitely stay again.

When my husband and I decided to spend his birthday
weekend across the Strait in Victoria, I booked us at
the Royal Scot. It was an excellent choice. At a block
from the inner harbour and the MV Coho dock, it can't be
more convenient. Being behind the bigger places on the
main drag alongside the harbour, the Royal Scot is
quieter and quainter. Because I'd mentioned my husband's
birthday they upgraded us to a suite for free, and what
a terrific room it was: large, clean, comfortable, lots
of TV channels. I have to agree that the bathrooms are a
bit dated and small, but that wasn't bad. The staff was
friendly and very helpful. They obviously often have
Coho walk-on passengers since they readily hold your
luggage for you until your room is ready so you can
wander Victoria, or hold it after you check-out but the
ferry isn't until later. The only complaint I have is
that they don't serve a free breakfast, which we've
grown accustomed to having at many hotels. But
considering the price, the location, and the friendly
staff, it was the perfect choice.

Only a block from the inner harbor , so you can't beat
the location. We stayed in a suite, which is like an
apartment. Would be excellent for a long stay. Decor is
quite dated, but very clean and well maintained.
Facilities are great- games room, pool, hot tub,
exercise room, etc. Restaurant was good food for a
reasonable price. Staff was excellent. |
