What Guests are saying about Travellers Inn City Center Victoria

Well we picked this hotel because it was close to the middle of everything and had a pool, restaurant, and a lounge.
When we checked in our room wasn't ready and the person behind the desk offered us another room, I hinted that they were a little small and the view sucked, but she gave us a key to a room about the same and we checked in. The room was clean, I checked it and the beds and under the beds being paranoid after reading these reviews. All seemed clean so we went out for dinner at the "white spot" right next door.
When we got back there was now a young man behind the desk and I mentioned the same problems and asked about a upgrade, and if he could describe the rooms.
Instead he gave me cards to a couple rooms so I could see for myself! AWESOME!
We ended up with the suite with 2 dbl beds and a kitchenette it was twice the size of our original room, it was larger than the executive but doesn't have a dvd player or stereo (who cares). It cost us $30.00 more a night, but well worth it. When I called for times to certain attractions they got me the info asap. I am from Vancouver originally and for the $169.00 a night it cost I found it the best deal for a family price wise. Yes there is a lounge, and no I wasn't there on the weekend, so I don't know if it gets rowdy, all in all we had a good 4 days there.
We walked to the Bay centre, Chinatown, and Antique row, we could of walked all the way to the museum if we weren't so lazy :)
This is a budget hotel, NOT a luxury resort ! I got my moneys worth, I could of gone to a nicer hotel, but it would have been twice the price for a room we spent a total of 3 waking hours a day in!
If you have kids, for gosh sakes, spend the extra $30.00 for a larger room , room 428 was perfect for us.

Spent 3 weeks in Canada this summer, and checked out most of the accommodation  before booking. Unfortunately relied on a guide book recommendation for the Travellers Inn City Centre. Glad we only spent one night here.

The aroma of our non-smoking room suggested that previous occupants had been smokers, and it was generally dark, drab and fusty. The outdoor pool and bar should be an attraction, but it appears to function as a local pick-up joint. This may be the nearest Travellers Inn to the city centre, but it is still a longish and not particular pleasant walk along a busy road to the Inner Harbour.

The one bonus is that it is close to Victoria's Chinatown and a good selection of Chinese restaurants.
