We had a Harbour View room in the older Laurel Wing.
After reading the other reviews here, I suspect it was
one of the refurbished ones, because it was fine. When
we checked in, we were given the option to purchase an
upgrade, but declined after seeing the room we had. We
were totally satisfied with it. The front staff were
very friendly and attentive (and even took care of
mailing a stack of cards for me). The location is great:
the surroundings are beautiful and the walk to the
harbour is very pleasant. Dinner at Aura was delicious
(separate review), though some items were not quite as
described on the menu. We stay in Victoria several times
a year and would definitely consider this property again
next time.
Hotel Review of the Laurel Point Inn Victoria
2 January 2012
I live close to Victoria and took my boyfriend to the
Inn at Laurel Point for his birthday.
Based on previous reviews I booked a studio room in the
Erikson suite - This is the first hotel I have stayed at
where the pictures do not do the property justice. The
rooms and view are absolutely breathtaking. This
"studio" room was extremely spacious and well appointed
accompanied by the largest bathroom I have ever seen -
stocked with local amenities from silk road.
As a former employee of Fairmont I would say that the
standards of service at this property are exceptional.
The staff was courteous and very thoughtful - they said
happy birthday to my boyfriend when we checked in (I
honestly think that this gesture was his favourite part
of the whole weekend!) There was even a card in the room
for him. It was nice that this special occasion was
noted, it made our stay very memorable.
We went for dinner at the superior (on superior street,
less than 5 min walk from the hotel) and we were also
blown away by the quality and care of that restaurant as
well.
The location of this hotel was perfect for us -
accessible to the harbour, but still tucked away from
the "buzz" of downtown. We enjoyed a walk along the
waterfront walkway accessible from the hotel's garden.
The staff made this experience memorable for us and I
will recommend this hotel to all friends and family who
visit our city.
Hotel Review of the Laurel Point Inn Victoria
23 December 2011
I was part of a group that had several days of meetings
at the Inn at Laurel Point in August, 2011. The Hotel
and grounds are very attractive, and the rooms do not
disappoint. When I experienced some challenges with my
key card and the door lock (seemed to have difficulty
communicating) the staff promptly and pleasantly
resolved the issue. The newly coded cards worked just
the way they are supposed to.
Unfortunately I left in somewhat of a hurry, and forgot
a jacket in the room. I contacted a colleague, who
contacted the staff, and was able to return my jacket to
me. Thanks. Then, when I arrived home in Manitoba, I
realized I had left my flash drive in the computer at
the hotel's business centre. I contacted the Hotel, but
Lost and Found had no record of it, Then on Monday I got
a phone call from the head of housekeeping. The flash
drive had been found and had been deemed too important
to include with "normal" lost & found. Two days later
Fedex delivered the flash drive to me.
This was definitely above and beyond the normal. I will
certainly try to come back to this Hotel.

29 November 2011
We stayed at the Inn in the new wing, Erikson. We had a
king room with a fantastic, huge bathroom and great
views. Room was new, clean, furniture was very modern
and all in a perfectly working or comfortable condition.
If I had anything to say for feedback, it would be that
there weren't enough plugins, in the room or bathroom
for our gadgets. The garden outback is beautiful. The
service at the front desk was great, we had valet
service for our car which was complimentary and a nice
surprise; they called and made reservations for us for
dinner, and overall pleasant to deal with. We didn't eat
at the restaurant so have no review to that. |
