Pros: Great location in the city, the Concierge service was excellent for
directions, dinner suggestions and coupons for local attractions. We stayed in
the North tower on the 39th floor and the views of Puget Sound and Mt Rainer
were excellent - we paid extra for that
Cons: Why is it that most every time I pay for the Starwood hotel using Starwood
points, its feels as if the hotel tries to give me a room that is almost its
best? Like they are trying to sneak me a bruised apple that I redeemed a coupon
for? We changed rooms three times until the King size bed was actually a King -
the others were Queens posing to be Kings. Plus, the view (which I paid extra
for) was absolutely better in the third room. Shame on you Westin Seattle
Management. I have GOLD status in the Starwood program for a reason - Frequent
guest!
Also, this Westin Seattle does not have a restaurant for breakfast but it does
not Cafe to go. There are several eateries near bye to make up for the missing
sit down breakfast service.

I've stayed here twice with my soon-to-be-teenage son to attend Mariners
baseball games the past two seasons. At the end of December we will be staying
here as well to attend a Seahawks football game. Not close to the stadiums, but
a nice 30-40 walk through downtown or a 10-15 minute bus/taxi ride.
This is a 4 **** hotel. Room service, bar, exercise room, gift shop, valet
parking, etc. Great views and a great location in the heart of downtown Seattle.
For someone who is from out of town and wants to see the sights, this is a good
hotel. An easy walk to Pike Place, Westlake Center, and shopping on 5th Avenue.
Not a huge hike to the Seattle Center (Space Needle), but you can catch the
monorail across the street at Westlake Center.
The staff at the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. From the person at
the desk to the parking attendant...superb service!
The only complaint I have about the Westin is the parking rate. $36 + tax per
night is a bit steep.

We stayed here as a weekend away from California. We got for a really good rate.
We checked in and left our bags in the room and headed straight out to Pike
Place market. Once back we noticed the room smelled of smoke (even though we
were on a non-smoking floor) and smelled of something else that was rather off
putting. Headed straight down to the reception and asked for another room. They
obliged straight away. We were on the 38th floor and then we moved down to the
35th.
If you want a room with a view ask for a room in the North tower (we were in the
South tower). This will more then likely look over Puget Sound, Lake Union and
the Space Needle.
The hotel is great in terms of sightseeing. Everything was walking distance.
Pike Place less then 10min walk, mono-rail 5min walk and Westlake Centre also a
5min walk. From there you get to the airport directly by bus (we took the MT 194
to Sea-Tac $1.75 each way!) and only took 30mins.
Rooms are neat and tidy and quite spacious. The free Starbucks coffee and tea in
the room was a plus too! |

Stayed at the Westin, great hotel - walked everywhere. I used my Seattle Tour
Saver and saved a lot of money. Anyone want the remainder of the book? It's good
through December.
Day 1 - Did the Market food tour which was informative and fun, which included
tea, fruit, fish, gelato. Safeco Field for a game, great place to watch
baseball, the tour was okay.
Day 2 - Sightseeing, sculpture park, Belltown, Space Needle, Crabpot for shrimp
and clams and Tillicum Village for cruise. Food was yummy, show was lame but
short. Beautiful to cruise both day and then night back.
Day 3 - Wanted to do coffee crawl but was sold out. The marketplace all day. Fab,
so much to see and eat!
Last day - headed out to wineries and Red Hook Brewery - fun but don't expect
Napa Valley beauty or California wine.
LOVED Seattle!!!! |

We stayed here after our Alaska cruise in May 2009. WONDERFUL STAY withe STAFF
WHO ARE VERY ACCOMMODATING, HELPFUL & FRIENDLY ESPECIALLY THE CONCIERGE WHO IS
VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE & PROFESSIONAL!!! I especially like the Asian looking
concierge who name I had forgotten BUT I want to say that he is INDEED A VERY
VALUABLE EMPLOYEE to the Westin Seattle as tourist like us appreciate such
HELPFULNESS and He Always WEAR A SMILE NO MATTER WHAT!!!
Room NICE, COMFORTABLE, SPACIOUS!!! The claim chowder in the cafe is really
YUMMY!!! I am not a big fan of clam chowder as I am very selective of the taste
of clam chowder BUT this cafe offers the BEST EVER SEATTLE CLAM CHOWDER and I am
still raving about their clam chowder every time I order clam chowder while
eating out and always compared the one I am eating to the one that this place
offered, Thus far, none had beat this place yet
Hotel convenience to downtown area, nearby the train to Seattle Center and buses
around corner to get to every where and airport transfer available though we use
cab service at the front of the hotel since we are a family of 3 and prefer not
to hull luggage from hotel to bus and bus to airport if using the Greyhound
airport transfer and the price from Seattle Down for any cab service to airport
is FIXED PRICE though the cab driver still use meter but we paid him the fixed
rate. In fact, meter is cheaper BUT our taxi driver indicate to us that most
people would pay the fixed rate plus more.
OVERALL, WESTIN SEATTLE WOULD BE MY DESTINATION HOTEL IN SEATTLE THE NEXT TIME I
HEAD TOWARD THERE WITH MY FAMILY. In fact, I already told my friends and family
to choose this hotel if they ever stay in Seattle. |

This hotel is ideally located in walking distance to trendy shops, restaurants
and bars. Love the location. The hotel is exactly what you'd expect from a
Westin. Not much new to add there. Recommended for out of town guests who want
to experience the night life of Seattle. |

Like several other posters have mentioned, the Westin has an incredible location
-- next to shopping and the monorail to the Space Needle, and only a few blocks
to Pike Place Market. The room was clean, contemporary, with comfortable beds.
The pool is indoors, but it's connected to a nice sun deck (somewhat small, but
it was nice to have the option to go outside).
The Gray Line Downtown Airporter was quick and only $11. That was great, because
parking would have been incredibly expensive ($39!). I did need a car for a day,
but there's an Avis directly across the street, so I was able to get a daily
rental while avoiding the Westin's parking charge. I'd definitely stay here
again if I'm in Seattle in the future.

We arrived at the Westin by taxi at about 10:30 am, having come from cruise pier
66. (It would have been walkable with carry-on only, but with our suitcases we
needed the taxi.) We were dropped at an awkward entrance, with 3 steps and
manually-operated, heavy doors. We later found that the entrance around the
corner was friendlier, with automatic doors, but I think taxis are not allowed
at that entrance. Check-in was great—friendly staff and no attitude about, or
even mention of, our Priceline deal. Our room was ready for us early, and they
offered to help with luggage.
We heard rumors of long elevator waits (reportedly 25 minutes), but experienced
no such thing; elevators were very prompt and fast, every time.
Our wedge-shaped room on the 21st floor of the south tower was roomy, with a
sage color scheme. The view to the west was not spectacular, but very nice. I
suspect that the brand new condo building across 5th Avenue has blocked some of
the harbor views.
Westin promotes a “breathe easy” program, but whatever air freshener they use
was not pleasant to us, and even slightly irritating. Windows do not open, but
turning on the fan cleared the air quickly.
Features of the room include a 36” flat-screen TV, honor bar refrigerator (with
no extra room for personal items), roomy desk facing the view, full couch with
pull-out bed, 2 comfy chairs, lighted closet with 2 luggage racks, safe, iron
and board. The bed was surprisingly a “Murphy” type pull-down bed, which upon
reflection could be considered a plus, if you wanted to use the room for a
business meeting. (It probably makes it easy for the cleaning staff to vacuum
too.) Linens and pillows were very nice. The bed might be too soft for some
people, but I found it very comfortable.
The shower/tub had two shower heads, but the wimpy water pressure did not allow
the benefits of that feature to be experienced. Curved shower curtain, flex-arm
mirror, and “Heavenly” bath products were nice features. Surprisingly, there was
no fan in the bathroom.
Wireless internet was available for free in the lobby and restaurants, but for a
fee in the room.
Street noise was present, but not bad at a dull roar, normal for a city hotel.
The fitness room was adequate, with various treadmills, bikes, and some
dumbbell-type free weights. No windows, but adequately ventilated, and with
changing/shower room close by. The pool was closed during May, but the Westin
website warned us of that condition. They expect it to be up and running mid
June. The main lobby bar is still closed for renovation, but the secondary bar
is open, and the lobby is nice again.
Location of the hotel is ideal for the shopping district, with Nordstrom and
Macy’s a block away. Pike Place Market and waterfront are easy walks. Monorail
station is a block away, $2 each way to Space Needle and museums. For Pioneer
Square, catch any southbound bus (free in the downtown area) from the
underground station under Macy’s.
Overall this hotel is very nice, but because they’re losing some of their view,
they may begin to lose customers. Thus they need to do some things to step up
their game. I don’t think the “breathe easy” promo is adequate; they’re going to
need to offer some 5-star touches while keeping their 4-star pricing. I suggest
fresh flowers on every floor (hallways are currently stark), door greeters or
better entrances, free wireless, free breakfast, and other perks. |

Very nice hotel in Seattle, with great views from the upper floors. Sort of a
strange layout, with a round building and halls that go around in a circle. |

Our family of four shared one room with a king size bed and pull-out couch. Very
spacious, clean, modern design. We walked in and got great rate - about $140
US/night. Walking distance to monorail and Pike Market. Choose parking carefully
- adjacent parkade (accessible by skywalk to hotel) $36/two nights as opposed to
Westin parking at $35/one night. |

We loved the location, very central, and easy to access many of Seattle's best
sites! Rooms are average. Would have appreciated one more bar of soap so we did
not have to keep swapping the soap between the sink and bath. Two wine glasses
in the room, given there is wine in the bar, would be great and at least four
water glasses two in the washroom and tow in the main room would have been
better. Coffee was replaced after having room coffee BUT no stir sticks the
second night. |
