Cloud Eastgate Bellevue
Aug 17, 2010
I came from NJ to spend a week in Seattle to attend a family wedding and have
some fun time with my son. As far as I am concerned this hotel is great. We got
to check in early. Room was a very big King Suite with two bathrooms. They have
this great free gated locked underground parking garage that connects via the
hotel's two elevators. A free continental breakfast is available but we felt it
best to go down early and bring the stuff (instant oatmeal, two cereals and
granola, toasts, English muffins, danish and bagels – butter, jam, cream cheese
cups are available, and make yourself waffles with toppings or syrup), up to our
room to eat in peace and quiet. The coffee they serve was good enough for us.
Hot chocolate packs also there with hot water. They seem to be building a nice
bar and restaurant. Front end staff was great. The most helpful was Ms. Avelaine
who at check in, had printed out all the driving directions we needed, and
pointed out the short walk to the Eastgate Park and Ride bus depot within
walking distance, that made it cheap and fast to get into the center of Seattle
without needing a car. Buses are express $2.50 for adults, under 17 is just
$1.75, running every 15 minutes with ride time about 20 minutes, with bike
mounts on front. WiFi ALL FREE. If you need to get something printed just go to
the “Business Center” off from the front desk and there you can use two
computers connected to printers. A great value. You will love it. Right off of I
90 East and West, but the rooms are very quiet. Good local eats at “The Lodge”
connected to the Bellevue Center Mall.

I did a ton of research on hotels in and around Seattle, and finally settled on
Silver Cloud Eastgate because of price, amenities, and location. We had a great
experience and would definitely stay here again.
The Room:
We stayed in a king suite, which is two separate rooms divided by pocket doors.
(The picture on the hotel's website is similar to what we stayed in.) This
worked out great for us because we could get our 8-year old settled in on the
sleeper sofa, shut the doors, and not disturb her if we stayed up late. (The
curtains made it really dark in there, so we were able to get her to sleep well
before the sun set at 9pm.)
The main sleeping room with the king bed is kind of tight - there is only a
narrow walkway between the end of the bed and the dresser. If you use the other
room as a sleeping area, there is no place to sit other than on the bed.
Beds:
Our daughter slept on the pull out sofa in the sitting room; it was surprisingly
comfortable. The king bed was fabulous, as were the multitude of pillows.
Other Stuff:
The suite had two large flat-screen TVs; one in each room.
The WiFi internet service offered quick log-in and consistently good speeds.
The room was very quiet. Though the hotel was full, we never heard any of our
neighbours. Our room overlooked I-90, but we didn't hear much, if any, noise
from traffic.
Laundry:
Large capacity washers and dryers are available on each floor. Best of all, they
are FREE! Just be sure to bring your own detergent or plan buy some when you get
into town. It took about 45 minutes to wash a large load (including jeans) and
slightly longer than that to dry them.
Driving:
Access to/from I-90 is only about a block from the hotel. We headed into town
each day around 9:00 - it only took about 15 minutes via I-90 to get into
Seattle. The drive back to the hotel around 6pm only took a little longer, maybe
20-25 minutes. If you don't want to drive, there is a large commuter transit
station just down the block from the hotel that offers express bus service into
downtown.
Parking: There are two options for parking, both of which are free. You can park
in the lot (half of which is at a rather steep angle) or in the underground
parking. Note: There is only one entrance/exit to the hotel's parking area.
Unfortunately, it is on a relatively sharp curve, so it can be very difficult to
see cars coming from the right side when you try to pull out.
Breakfast:
The hotel is currently remodeling the lounge area of the lobby into a full
restaurant, so breakfast was served in a conference room on large round tables.
It was not the poshest of settings, but most of the hotel guests were either
business people in a rush to get out the door or families with young kids - no
one was sticking around to relax after they finished eating anyway. (According
to a sign in the lobby, the restaurant, and presumably a new breakfast area, are
due to open soon.)
The breakfast menu consisted of a couple kinds of cereal, juice, coffee,
make-it-yourself waffles, bananas, apples, muffins, pastries, and a couple
different types breads. Nothing special.
Staff:
We didn't have much interaction with the staff, other than at check-in and
check-out. The desk staff were nice, but very business-like. The staff who
served breakfast were pleasant, but did not appear to be especially interested
in interacting with the guests.
For families with younger kids:
There is no pool at this hotel, but there are a number of parks nearby.
Robinswood playground is just a couple blocks north of the hotel on 148th Ave.
There is also a splash pad about 4 miles north at 156th Ave & 8th St. (Check out
the The City of Bellevue website for a complete listing of parks and amenities:

Nice and quiet
Good underground parking
The only complaint I have is the breakfast.
1. very small selection of bread and baked goods
2. We had to share tables with strangers. Instead of having tables of different
sizes, they only had huge tables in the dining room....we had no choice but to
split up into 3 different tables

The hotel overall was very nice! We liked our room - fridge, microwave, flat
screen tv, and free parking in their garage. It was quiet, for a hotel, and we
didn't really hear much freeway noise at all. The free breakfast was very
continental. We looked in and then decided to go elsewhere.April 4, 2010
We’ve stayed here quite a few times, and we will continue to go back. It’s a
great option for the area, and they include breakfast, parking and Internet
access in their rate. All hotels should do this! There’s always good service and
comfortable beds. A great choice

Wonderful every time...comfy beds, good breakfast, very nice people at the front
desk, easy parking and easy internet access. Very clean hotel and good service.
The only thing was the swimming pool and excise room located next building and
not allow age below 18. |
