Coast Hotel Bellevue
Aug 16, 2010
I was concerned when I read the reviews, but the reality was worse. This hotel
is not clean. We found vomit on the shower curtain and blood on the floor
buttons in the elevator. Not sure what happened here but we did not want to find
out. Luckily, we spent most of the time out of the hotel. I did consider
checking out but I had paid in full on Priceline and decided to cheap out. The
view of downtown was nice from our room and the lobby is OK but apparently
smoking is allowed. I would pay more for a better hotel and sleep without
wondering what else lurks beneath.

We were in Seattle for 10 days to see family and friends and decided to stay at
a hotel so we didn't impose on people. I got the Coast Hotel on Priceline for
$65 a night. I knew going into this that the hotel would probably not be the
greatest and I got what I expected. The room was very small which made it
diffuclt to have our teenagers with us. So we had them stay with grandparents
and friends each night. We did get a roll-away for the odd night that we had a
child.
While I would not choose this hotel again, it served our purpose fairly well. We
got it for a good price, it's an good location, has free parking and breakfast,
as well as wi-fi. Now, the breakfast isn't much to speak of - mostly carbs. But
it was something. We did walk over to Whole foods and get some sliced fruit that
we kept in our fridge. That helped!
It's an OK place to stay if you get a good price and know what you're getting!

I really didn't know what to expect with some of the previous reviews and was
even a bit nervous about staying here. I was pleasantly surprised! We booked
three rooms over the internet at a site that specializes in multiple bookings.
We got a great rate for the rooms. When we arrived we were the last of our group
to register. My family consists of myself, husband, and our two children. We
opened the door to our room and thought there was a mistake. Our room was huge
and had two floors with a spiral staircase. I must warn anyone with small
children that this room might not be appropriate as the stairs can be quite
dangerous to little ones and the railing on the second floor contained a fairly
good gap that a child could easily fall through. Our view was of the city
skyline and also the pool. The only complaint I had was that it was noisy
(freeway traffic all night long) and if there were people in the pool their
voice carried into the room but I learned on the second night that running the
ceiling fan drowned out the noise enough to sleep. The free continental
breakfast was mediocre. I wish they served toast as most of the offerings were
sweets and I don't like to start my day with junk food. I did ask on the last
day if I could have toast and they made me some for no charge. A nice touch as
well is that they offer a free shuttle (VW Van) to anywhere within 5 mile
radius. A great mall is within that distance and the hotel owns a car seat for
toddlers that you can use in the shuttle. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed here for 2 weeks during a summer camp, and the room was nice. Not
4-star quality - but comfortable. It was one the smaller size, but the carpet
and everything was very clean and nothing (except the bathroom floor) looked
old. Bathroom floor was white tile with black grout... which was probably my
only dislike.
The bed, as others have said on here, IS INCREDIBLE!!! I have stayed at many
4-star hotels, but this bed beats them in comfort! Very soft and comfortable.
Wireless and wired internet are provided for free, but are incredibly slow. With
the entire hotel using it, it's worst than dial up speed!
Breakfast is included, but they don't have many choices. Bagels,
pastries/muffins, and juice/coffee/tea. No bread or cut fruit (they do have some
apples sometimes). It was good enough - served the purpose of a free breakfast!
I paid $55 a night for this on Priceline. I would not pay full price for this
hotel, but for the deal I got, it was a very nice stay! Wouldn't mind staying
here again.

Let me start by saying I do not have very high standards. When my fiancee and I
travel, we stay in anything from cheap motels/hostels to (on rare occasion) top
of the line resorts. I don't have high expectations, but even minimal ones
weren't met here.
The Coast Bellevue Hotel is a 4 that tries be an 8 by having a fancy lobby and
free wine a few days for happy hour. Sadly, once you leave the lobby, the make
up comes off and you find out what the hotel looks like when it wakes up in the
morning.
The WA State Bar Exam was this week so 100s of us apparently chose to stay at
the Coast Bellevue Hotel given its location and price. I don't know about
others, but I booked through Expedia for just under $100/night for 3 nights and
it included parking, "free" Wi-Fi, "continental" breakfast, and a $50 food
voucher at their "restaurant."
Why all the quotes? I'll explain.
The free Wi-Fi didn't work the entire time we were there. Perfect for uploading
our exams like we needed to after it ended each day.
The breakfast was a variety of cold, stale baked goods, some cereal and milk,
and downright the worst coffee I've ever had in Washington.
I was happy to get my $50 of free food unexpectedly for the restaurant... until
we ate the food. Two meals and five menu options, and only an appetizer was
half-decent. I make better salads at home in 5 minutes than the one I ordered at
the hotel.
I wish I could say that's all, but it gets worse.
The towel I used after my first shower had a huge mound of hair in it. Sadly I
didn't realize this until drying off and the hair was stuck to my body.
Disgusting.
The walls could not be thinner unless literally made of paper. We had the
pleasure of having two neighbors in our "adjoining room" over our stay. The
first guy had the TV on while we were studying and it sounded like our TV was
on. He was nice enough to turn it down. The next night a couple with their devil
child that screamed and cried like I've never heard took the other guy's place.
Needless to say, my fiancee had to ask them to take him out of the room or
sedate him so we could study.
You could hear tons of noise in the hallways too.
Soda machines? Always out of soda.
Pool? Yes, they have a pool. It's western WA and it's an outdoor pool. Can't say
it's a huge plus.
Gym is tiny.
Fridge is tinier.
Anything good to say? Sure. The location is walking distance to downtown
Bellevue if you don't mind crossing major intersections that don't have stop
lights.
Bottom line: I've stayed in worse and I felt good about how the exam went, so at
the end of the day, it's just another hotel I won't recommend or stay at again,
but if you're looking for a budget hotel (I know you can get it on priceline for
like $50/night) in a decent location, it could be worse... just not by much.

The hotel is nice, the room was good enough for our needs, i loved the free
shuttle service they have every 30 minutes to take you downtown Bellevue.
Otherwise, Bellevue's center is uphill from the hotel. Nice swimming pool and
the staff is very friendly and helpful. They even allowed us a late check out
without paying a penalty. there are two minuses for the hotel. Breakfast is
pretty much just pastries. If you don't like sugar overload breakfasts this is
not going to please you. luckily there is a Denny's right next door.
the second minus is that the wi-fi in rooms is not wireless, therefore it is not
really wi-fi. if you have a laptop you are fine. |
