Hotel Reviews Red Lion Bellevue
Mar 21, 2010
We just returned from our 1 night stay at the Red Lion in Bellevue.
Luckily, I won this hotel through Priceline (bid $45, after taxes and
fees, total was $58.86) and I didn't pay full price. Otherwise, I would
have been very disappointed. The hotel was not difficult to find,
especially with our GPS. It is right off highway 405 and in downtown
Bellevue. We arrived at around 9:30pm and were not impressed with the
exterior of the hotel. It looks more like a motel. Check-in was fast and
easy. We were assigned a room on the first floor in the Mount Olympus
Building. (BTW, there are 4 buildings. None have elevators. Luckily,
there are only 2 floors in each building.) Parking is FREE and we had no
problems finding a spot.
In order to enter the building, you need to use your key card. We were
assigned a room that faces the parking lot. Our room was non-smoking and
had 2 double beds. The beds are small. I would say they are full size
and not queens. It was enough for me, my husband, and my 6 year old son.
There is a little desk, a small wicker-like chair. The room itself was
dark, even with the lamp lights on. the bathroom is tiny. It looked like
the bathroom fixtures and countertop were updated recently. Everything
else in the room could use an update.
There was a small refrigerator. The refrigerator was loud!!! I had
trouble sleeping because of the noise it made. We also had trouble
sleeping because our room faced the parking lot and cars would come and
go throughout the night and early morning hours! I guess we were lucky
that we didn't have a room that faced the highway because I could
imagine that noise would be worse. If you get this hotel, ask for a room
that faces away from the parking lot and highway.
My husband was able to connect to the wireless internet without any
issues. And wireless internet access is FREE!
At check-in, the lady told me about the breakfast buffet they offered in
the restaurant for $4.95 per person. We decided to try it in the
morning. You have to go to the front desk to get vouchers for the
buffet. We only had to pay for two buffets, since my son was free! The
breakfast buffet was very decent. It's in a restaurant and you use real
plates and utensils. Not plastic like in other free continental
breakfasts at other hotels! There were 2 servers that would come to get
your dirty dishes. There was a nice selection of breakfast foods:
scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, pancakes, cold and hot
cereals, fresh cantaloupe/honeydew melon, cottage cheese, bagels, toast,
danish, muffins, coffee, and orange, apple, and grapefruit juices. It
would have been nice to have the breakfast included in the hotel rate.
But, at $4.95 a person, we felt it was worth it.
I would not rate this hotel as a 3*. It's more like a 2.5*. But, since I
didn't pay full price, I can't complain. It was Ok for our 1 night stay.
I could only recommend this hotel if you get it for a very good rate! I
would not recommend this hotel if you had to pay full price. There are
other hotels that were nearby that seemed better.

I tried Priceline for the first time and got it for $50. A buffet
breakfast was available for $5 per person, so I bought that at check-in.
It was delicious - another bargain with no lineups and unlimited bacon,
sausages, scrambled eggs, pancakes at the press of a button, fruit,
yoghurt, pastries, etc.
At check-in I asked and received a King Bed - very comfortable. Room
226. It's an older style hotel that is made up of four separate
two-storey buildings. The walls are concrete - so nice not to hear the
neighbours. It's beside a freeway but that noise is constant and not
offensive. Every room has a balcony and fridge and is quite roomy, and
spotlessly clean. The bathroom has a high shower and lots of pressure -
even granite countertops, and Bath and Body Shop
soaps/shampoo/conditioner. There's lots of above ground parking, and
it's free. I liked that I could carry my own bags and park my own car.
The front desk and restaurant is reached by walking through a courtyard
that must be beautiful when the rhodos are blooming. There's no elevator
and quite a few stairs so it might not be a good choice for some people
who have difficulties with that. The pool is outdoors and closed in the
winter. |
