Bellevue Hilton
Mar 12, 2010
We stayed three nights at the Hilton Bellevue and at a discount rate, we
thought it was a good hotel and a great deal.
The service was a mixed experience for us. Front desk service ranged
from very personable to disinterested, with the majority somewhere in
between. When we arrived I had to ask a hotel worker if I could borrow a
luggage cart -- I presume he was a bellhop or whatever the modern
equivalent of that position is called. He was just chatting with another
staffer... no offer of assistance. Kinda weird. At least I got to use
the cart, because our car was packed to the gills. One other gentleman
sort of seemed unthrilled to be there, but other than that the customer
service was quite good. Someone's meal at the restaurant was incorrectly
charged to our room, for example, and taken care of very quickly with
minimal fuss.
Bonus points for having Google maps to points of interest on hand (about
a week into our driving holiday, we had a lot of laundry to do and they
were able to point us in the right direction). Didn't try the
restaurant, but the coffee shop seemed a bit expensive and my wife
wasn't thrilled with the drink she purchased there.
The room was quite large and nicely appointed. Didn't quite have that
"spotless" feel you might expect from a Hilton, but it certainly wasn't
dirty. Our room faced the highway and I can't say there was any noise to
bother us. The biggest qualm, and I've seen it mentioned in other
reviews, was the non-replenishment of toiletries. Maybe it's a green
thing, and that's fine, but while we didn't run out we did use all of
some items through our stay and thought the fact that full
soaps/shampoos/whatever weren't left "just in case" smacked of
cheapness, not love for Mother Earth.
Location was good -- right off the highway, a short drive to shopping
and we were pleased to find the drive into Seattle didn't take very long
(even early in the morning). Knowing what rush hour is like in some
cities, that was very pleasant. I was incredulous when the woman at the
front desk told me it would take "about 20 minutes" to get to the city.
Turned out she was right.
As with so many hotels on the same brand level as Hilton, wireless
Internet (in room at least) isn't free. I believe we paid $10 for a day
during our stay. That's always a disappointment, but almost so expected
that I don't fault the hotel... just the practice. :) I *believe*
there's free WiFi in the lobby area, though, so that eases the pain a
little.
We got a really good rate on this hotel, and at the price we paid, we'd
definitely stay again. It's a good hotel, although I suspect at regular
prices there are probably better in the area.

We stayed at this Hilton as a Priceline winning bid. Did not pay the
rack room rate, so the value is excellent. It is close to the freeway,
many restaurants, and many shopping places.
Even though it is close to the freeway, the room was very quiet.
Beautiful atrium with clear/glass elevators. Large dining area, although
didn't have any meals here. Parking use to be fee, but have since been
complimentary.

This is an older property that is starting to show it's age. The rooms
are HUGE relative to any other Hilton i have stayed at. The beds are
standard Hilton... very comfortable. The bar staff is very friendly and
has good food. I recommend the Ahi Tuna or the Steak Sandwich. The staff
is excellent. |
