The District caters to the needs of more than 50,000 students and staff, in addition to a base population of 35,000.
Street In University District
The University District Farmers Market is Seattle's oldest and largest "farmers-only" neighborhood market. Founded in 1993, this Saturday market offers a place for more than 50 Washington State farmers to sell their fresh produce and quality products each week.

Featured items at the market include an astounding variety of local, seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables from both sides of the state, herbs, wild mushrooms, fresh farmstead cheeses, free-range chicken and eggs, pastured organic beef, pork, fresh seafood, nuts, ciders, honey, fresh cut flowers, nursery stock, fresh bread and other baked goods, as well as numerous preserves and condiments from local farm-grown products.

Open Saturdays, from 9am to 2pm in May through December, and in winter (January - March) 10am to 2pm. Located on the corner of University Way at NE 50th, in the playground of the University Heights Center for the Community.

From I-5, take the 50th Street exit. Head east on NE 50th ½ mile to corner of NE 50th and University Way NE..

From I5: Take exit 69 (the 45th/50th Street Exit) when traveling north or south and head east.
From 520: Take The Montlake exit.

WALK OR RIDE A BIKE
Follow the Burke-Gilman Trail; traveling east along the shore of Portage Bay or traveling west along the north side of Lake Washington to Montlake Drive

Washington Park Arboretum
A 230-acre park on the opposite shore of Union Bay from the University of Washington which manages the arboretum. 5,500 species of plants and gentle pathways amid azaleas and rhododendrons, and the largest collection of Japanese maples in the U.S. Entrance is at Madison Street and Lake Washington Boulevard. Arboretum guides lead tours each Sunday at 1:00 p.m. from the Donald Graham Visitors Center, 2300 Arboretum Drive. University of Washington
Public research university having an enrollment of about 35,000 students attending campuses in Seattle, Tacoma and Bothell. The University of Washington Visitor's Information Center is on the ground floor of the Odegaard Undergraduate Library, located on the southwest corner near the statue of George Washington.
